The Fiat Scudo is a light commercial vehicle produced since 1996. The model was named in honor of the coat of arms, which was printed on Italian coins. In 2021, the manufacturer introduced the third generation, produced at the Sevel Nord plant in France. There are currently two versions on the market: a cargo van and a cargo-passenger two-row version. The vehicle was sold on the European market and was not delivered to Israel. However, in 2023, the new Fiat Scudo will appear on the Israeli market at a price of 249,900 shekels. The model will be offered in a short or longer body, with a 2.0-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 177 hp and automatic gearbox. The start of deliveries was announced by Samelet, an importer of Fiat models to Israel.

The Fiat Scudo is almost a complete analogue of the Citroen Jumpy.

The Fiat Scudo is an almost complete analogue of the Citroen Jumpy, Peugeot Expert, Opel Vivaro and Toyota ProAce . The differences lie only in emblems and minor design details. Moreover, the third generation was created in collaboration with the engineers of Citroën and Peugeot, because the FCA and PSA groups entered the combined Stellantis group. The cost of the Scudo is comparable to Citroën's Jumpy: the French van costs at least 222,442 shekels for the entry-level version with a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with 140 hp paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. The Jumpy version, similar to the Scudo (a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with 177 hp and a 8-speed automatic gearbox), costs a little more than the Fiat van: 253,411 versus 249,900 shekels.

Comparison

Exterior

The exterior of the 2021 Fiat Scudo copies other ‘twin brothers’. The only differences are a different logo and a new radiator grille. Their rear ends are practically identical, except for the logo and a slightly modified bumper. At the same time, the vehicle looks nice and expressive. The electric version, which will be released a little later, is decorated with a special logo, featuring the initial letter ‘E’ painted in blue. In addition, there is a charging socket located in the left front wheel arch. In Israel, the commercial van will be offered in two chassis options, both with the same wheelbase of 3,275 mm and a width of 1,920 mm. The short version is 4,959 mm long and 1,895 mm high. It offers a trunk volume of 5.3 cubic meters, a load capacity of 1,013 kg and a towing capacity of up to 2,110 kg. The longer version is 5,309 mm long and 1,935 mm high. If offers a trunk volume of 6.1 cubic meters, a load capacity of 1,304 kg and a towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg.

Interior and equipment

Both versions of the 2023 Fiat Scudo for Israel come standard with a 7-inch multimedia system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functions, a basic 4-speaker sound system, a double passenger seat next to the driver, cruise control, power windows, two side doors and a rear hinged door, automatic high beam, light and rain sensors, rear parking sensor and rear camera. The list of electronic assistants is small.

Powertrains

The Citroen Jumpy, sold in Israel in the 3rd generation version (2016), is available on our market with different bodies and powertrains, including electric and diesel versions with 1.5-liter or 2-liter engines, manual or automatic gearboxes. At this stage, the new 2023 Fiat Scudo will be sold in short or long body versions with only one diesel engine option. An electric version will also appear in Israel, but later. It will be equipped with a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor and two batteries to choose from: 50 or 75 kWh, which will provide up a driving range of up to 330 km.

Fiat Scudo 2021. Engine. Van, 3 generation

The 2023 Fiat Scudo delivered to Israel has received a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with a capacity of 177 hp, which is paired with an electronically-controlled 8-speed automatic gearbox. This is enough for a very decent acceleration of a commercial vehicle: the Scudo accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds, developing a top speed of 170 km/h. The combined fuel consumption is 13.5-13.9 km per liter (depending on the version). The model is equipped with a 69-liter fuel tank and a large 22.4-liter urea tank.
