The Hyundai Kona EV Long Range is a new version of the electric SUV, the Kona EV with longer driving range. Soon it will appear in Israel. Deliveries in 2023 were announced by Colmobil, Hyundai’s importer in Israel. We already know this electric SUV quite well, including the entry-level version restyled in 2020 in our market, which is equipped with an electric motor on the front axle with a capacity of 136 hp and a battery with a capacity of 39.2 kWh, which allows you to travel about 305 km on a single charge. We even analyzed its pros and cons in detail here. The new 2023 Hyundai Kona EV LR offers a driving range of 484 km as well as a more powerful electric motor producing 204 hp, but it will cost more than the entry-level version.

For comparison: the cost of the regular version of the Hyundai Kona EV starts from 149,437 shekels (including registration fees, data as of the end of 2022). A new, improved version with extended battery life will cost at least 184,900 shekels.

The Hyundai Kona EV Long Range is a new version of the electric SUV.
  • The buyer of the Hyundai Kona EV LR will receive a more powerful electric motor of 204 hp compared to 136 hp for the standard version.
  • Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 7.9 seconds (against 9.9 seconds for the entry-level version), the maximum speed of the novelty is 167 km/h (against 155 km/ h).
  • The long range version is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 64 kWh, which allows you to travel 484 km (compared to 39.2 kWh and 305 km for the classic model).
  • Slow charging is possible with an 11 kW three-phase household charger (compared to 7.4 kW for the basic model) or with a DC fast charger up to 100 kW. Charging time from 10% to 80% is the same for both versions and is 47 minutes.

In all other respects, they are absolutely identical models. The dimensions of the Hyundai electric SUV are small: length – 4,180 mm, width – 1,800 mm, height – 1,570 mm, wheelbase – 2,600 mm. Standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch fully digital dashboard, an 8-inch infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functions, regenerative braking control via the steering wheel paddles, cruise control speedometer, air conditioning, electric handbrake, light and rain sensors, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights, reversing camera, etc. The electronic assistants include a collision avoidance system, a blind spot monitoring system, a safe exit system, a collision avoidance system when reversing, active lane control, a driver fatigue warning system and more.
