Letin Mengo. Affordable city electric car
Compact electric vehicles are in great demand in China, thanks to their low price and government benefits. They are sold in thousands of copies. Another affordable city electric car has been produced since 2020 by Levdeo, which used to deal only with simple electric models, but later changed its image along with the name: Letin means ‘life, electricity, technology, intelligent interaction and unlimited possibilities’. The Letin Mengo is a 5-door electric hatchback with a range of 300 km, starting at 5,900 dollars. The cheapest version with a battery of 11.5 kWh (driving range - 130 km) costs 4,400 dollars. The creators intend to export their car in the future.
The model's Chinese name translates to "mango", but for an English-speaking audience, the name was changed to Mengo.
Exterior
The tiny hatchback belongs to the popular kei car format in Asia: length – 3,622 mm, width – 1,607 mm, height – 1,525 mm. The wheels, installed ‘in the corners’, increase the interior space. The 2,442 mm wheelbase is longer than that of the Wuling Mini EV. The car was designed by the Italian studio Pininfarina. The body has a contrasting color, the front pillars and moldings on the doors are made in a different color.
The Wuling Mini EV costs almost the same, 4,500 dollars, but is smaller.
Equipment
The affordable electric car is well equipped: a two-spoke steering wheel, a digital dashboard, a 9-inch multimedia screen, 5G connectivity, augmented reality navigation, a voice assistant, air conditioning, driver assistance systems and as many as 19 storage spaces. The car is four-seater.
Motors
The car comes with one electric motor on the front axle with a return of 34 or 48 hp, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h. There are three batteries of different capacities to choose from: 11.5, 17 and 29 kWh. The driving range is 130, 185 or 300 km.
