The Infiniti QX60 is a 7-seat crossover manufactured by Infiniti, the luxury arm of Japanese automaker Nissan. It appeared in 2013. This is Infiniti’s first full-size crossover with three rows of seats. It can have both front and all-wheel drive. You can buy the first generation of this car in Israel after 2016 restyling in 2021.

First generation

Japanese brand Infiniti has introduced the JX crossover, ready for production in 2011. At the end of 2013, the novelty was named QX60 in accordance with the company’s new policy. All SUVs received the QX index, and sedans received the Q index. The QX60 went on sale in dealerships in Israel in October 2014. The highlight of the car is the seven-seater salon, which is organized so skillfully that other minivans cannot compare.

The QX60, like other models of the Infiniti brand, is distinguished by a striking exterior, its profile is expressive until instantly recognizable, the C-pillar has an unusual bend, and in general, the crossover somewhat resembles a minivan. The car has three full rows of seats with a body length of 4.99 m and a wheelbase of 2.9 m. It should be noted that it is providing passengers with the largest space and the largest luggage compartment (446 l / 787 l with the seats folded) in this class. This reminds of the roots of the model. The brand is primarily aimed at the US market, where they love space.

The interior of the Infiniti QX60 is attractive, with a body width of 1960 mm and a height of 1742 mm. The interior is spacious, and the light finish significantly increases it visually. The front seats are wide and comfortable, the second row of seats is transformable. There is an adjustment of the backrest tilt, divided in a ratio of 60:40, the ability to move a part of the sofa back or forth, and also fold it for a comfortable passage to the third row. Everything is in the best traditions of family minivans. But the back row is quite adult, designed for two people of average height.

The highlight of the car is the seven-seater salon, which is organized so skillfully that other minivans will give way.

Infiniti QX60 was produced with different types of drives. All-wheel drive modifications were equipped with a 3.5-liter gasoline engine (V6 with a capacity of 262 hp. and a maximum torque of 334 Nm), or a hybrid unit based on a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder petrol engine (231 hp.) and a very modest 19-horsepower electric motor (‘mild hybrid’). The front-wheel drive version was equipped with a V6 engine. There was only one transmission available: a CVT with seven virtual ‘gears’. The 6-cylinder all-wheel drive version is dynamic. A large crossover accelerates to 100km/h in 8.4 seconds, a hybrid according to the passport accelerates in 8.6 seconds, but in practice, the car’s slowness is noted. Fuel consumption for the gasoline version is 14.4 l per 100 km in the city and 8.5 l per 100 km on the highway. It is 10.7 l per 100 km for a hybrid in the city and 7.3 l per 100 km outside the city.

The QX60 crossover has a wheel suspension device popular among passenger cars: MсPherson is in the front, multi-link is in the back. Four-wheel drive, which has already become a classic simple option, familiar to Nissan owners (and not only), is the All-Mode 4WD system. A front-wheel drive vehicle connects the rear wheels when the front axle is slipping. The ground clearance is decent for a crossover of 178 mm, but long overhangs and an almost three-meter wheelbase will prevent off-roading. The suspension is short-travel and is more likely designed for asphalt.

Restyling 2016

The Infiniti QX60 was restyled in August 2016. Restyling was aimed at improving both the design and the technical parameters of the crossover. The car now looks more solid and aggressive due to the new look of the front end. A new grille shape, larger, narrower bi-xenon headlights, new fog lights with chrome trim, and impressive bumper are on the list of changes. The crossover also looks better at the rear due to the new tailgate, and the new wheel rims now perfectly match the high status of the model. Inside, the CVT selector has improved, the location of the memory keys of the seats has changed slightly, there are more USB ports, the noise insulation has been improved. The suspension settings have been changed and the power steering has been upgraded to improve handling. The hybrid went out of a sale after the restyling.
