Jaguar F-Type. Freedom on wheels
The Jaguar F-Type is a premium sports car produced by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) (UK) since 2013. It may be a a roadster or a coupe. An all-wheel drive version is also available. In 2021, you could buy the first-generation Jaguar F-Type in the market after the second restyling at the end of 2019 (the first restyling of 2017 was presented in Israel - as of 2021).
The F-Type is the successor to one of the most popular sports cars of the last century, the Jaguar E-Type.
First generation
For the first time, the British started talking about their intention to release a modern roadster based on the legendary E-Type back in 2008. But they didn’t have enough money for it. After India’s Tata Motors bought Jaguar, things finally got off the ground. In 2010, it became known about the engine developed for the new sports car, in 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show the C-X16 concept car was shown, and in 2012 at the Paris Motor Show, the final version of the successor to the Jaguar E-Type was shown. Finally, in 2013, the first Jaguar F-Type went into series production. And despite its high cost, Jaguar sold half of its planned annual volume in the first few weeks of sales.
Distinctive features
The first F-Type is built on a shortened platform from the latest generation Jaguar XK. The body of the new roadster is entirely made of AC300 aluminum alloy and weighs only 261 kg. Its manufacturing technology was taken from the Range Rover Evoque, which reduced energy costs by 75% and increased body rigidity by approximately 30%. The level of noise and vibrations has been significantly reduced, this became possible as a result of the use of a double engine partition and a special gasket between the body and the suspension. The cloth roof of the roadster has an aluminum frame and an electric drive, which allows it to be folded in 12 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. Jaguar estimates that the soft top not only reduced vehicle weight but also lowered the center of gravity and increased thermal and acoustic insulation.
The Jaguar F-Type’s suspension, just like its body, is made of aluminum. Electronics monitors acceleration, pedaling, resistance to movement, and driving style, adjusting to the driver. In total, it has 25 behaviors depending on weather conditions and driving style. The weight distribution of the vehicle along the axles is 50:50.

Exterior and interior fittings
The interior of the F-Type has many interesting solutions, such as air deflectors extending from the console, a handrail that visually divides the front of the cabin into 2 parts. The touchscreen display, a multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel trimmed in black Alcantara and trimmed at the bottom on the S-versions, leather upholstery, 380W 10-speaker, or 770W 12-speaker Meridian multimedia system add sophistication and comfort to the new Jaguar F-Type.
The F-Type is also equipped with a start-stop system that reduces fuel consumption, an active exhaust system, a Corner Recognition system, which keeps the selected gear until the end of the turn, and many, many other interesting options. For example, the spoiler in the F-Type is made of composite material, extends at a speed of 96 km/h, and retracts at 64 km/h, increasing the downforce by 120 kg.
Restyling
Since its release in 2013, the Jaguar F-Type has been restyled twice - in 2017 and 2019. The 2019 update brings a modern twist to the sports car’s exterior. The Jaguar F Type 2020 immediately attracts with its athletic and expressive appearance. It received new headlights, slightly extended back, and slightly elongated, which will emphasize its aerodynamic lines, smoothly flowing into the stylish nozzles on the muffler. Animated turn signal bulbs turn on sequentially along the “J” line to create a sense of movement. The Jaguar F Type 2020 LED taillights to wrap around the wheel arches and accentuate the vehicle’s athletic posture.
The interior of the new F Type features Performance seats can be adjusted in 12 settings to optimize the seating position and provide the best comfort. The comfort level is increased by using the heating or cooling functions, which can be selected according to the season.
