The 5-door 5 seater hatchback Mercedes AMG A-Class 2019/2020 has small dimensions: 4445 mm in length, 1850 mm in width. At the same time, a very impressive wheelbase of 2,729 mm allows a quite capacious passenger compartment. Trunk volume is 370 liters min, 1310 liters max.
Distinctive features
The new Mercedes A-class AMG differs from the standard A-class with a sporty decor and powerful powertrain. The front bumper is the same as the standard version. But on the other hand, it received a different radiator grille with double chrome trim and a mesh design with many small cells. On its bottom side you can see an additional splitter lip and aerodynamic linings near the side air intake blades. Skirts are located on the sills, and in the wheel arch there are 18-inch alloy wheels with a unique design. At the hull back, you can see a small but full-fledged wing on the fifth door cover, a pair of junction pipes of the exhaust system, and a diffuser.
The platform for the hatchback was inherited from the standard model, however, it had to be modified to prepare the car for increased loads. First of all, attention was paid to the torsional rigidity of the bulk. The manufacturer has placed an X-shaped stiffener under the bottom side and an aluminum plate under the engine. The bracket is completely independent. There are McPherson fences at fascia and a multilink system at the rear bodywork. It differs from the standard one in modified quadrant levers, coil springs, and shock struts. There is a passive suspension with a telescopic shock absorber in default. Adaptive racks can be ordered at an upcharge. Disk brakes are peripheral. Fascia – 350 mm perforated four-piston monobloc disk brake calipers. At rear bodywork there are 330 mm ones and a floating axle for each wheel. The four-wheel drive is full with a rear wheelset connected through a multi-disk clutch.
