Hyundai Ioniq 5 has received a larger battery
The new Hyundai Ioniq with 77.5 kWh batteries is already available in South Korea. It would be only logical to expect that it will appear in other markets. Thus, a car with a large battery will appear in the United States. In the meantime, we the previous 72.6 kWh version will do. A battery with a larger capacity will increase the driving range by 10% to 480-490 km versus the current 433 km. The increase in capacity is due to the increase in the number of battery modules from 30 to 32.
As a reminder, the current Ioniq is equipped with 5 batteries with a capacity of 58 and 72.6 kWh. You can choose a rear-wheel drive version with one electric motor with an output of 225 hp and a torque of 350 Nm. The driving range of this modification is 483 km. And the twin-engine all-wheel drive version is capable of developing 320 hp and 605 Nm. The driving range is up to 433 km. The top-end Limited AWD should travel 393 km without recharging.
In Israel, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes in two versions: rear-wheel drive (225 hp, driving range - 483 km) and all-wheel drive (320 hp, driving range - 433 km). And both have 72.6 kWh batteries.
Moreover, it may be expected that Hyundai releases a wireless software update for the electric vehicle. The update will touch driver assistance systems, airbags and an electric vehicle control system. There will be other changes due to the fact that Korea Electric Power Corporation will allow owners to supply electricity from their cars to the electric grid from 2022.
