Mercedes-Maybach S580e. Maybach’s first plug-in hybrid
Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled the world’s first plug-in hybrid version of one of the best luxury cars in the world, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S580e. Recall that earlier all variants of the most luxurious Mercedes sedan were mild-hybrid, that is, the powertrain offered an additional 48-volt starter-alternator. And now, in addition to the ultimate luxury in the technologically sophisticated form, the potential owners will get the possibility of network charging and a quite decent electric driving range. Meet the new 2023 Mercedes-Maybach S580e, Maybach’s first plug-in hybrid!
Just look how beautiful it is…
The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is an extremely large sedan. It is 5.47 meters long and has a wheelbase of 3.4 meters. Digital Light headlights with 1.3 million controllable micro-mirrors each, Magic Vision Control wipers (with built-in nozzles and heating), forged 20-inch Maybach wheels, power rear doors, power panoramic roof… Impressive, isn’t it?
And luxurious…
The car comes with exclusive Nappa leather finishing, active multi-contour seats, electric drive, position adjustment, heated and ventilated seats, augmented reality head-up display, 3D dashboard and touchpad on the second row, folding tables, MBUX High-End multimedia system (for the second row too), a refrigerator for drinks and glasses… Moreover, the sedan features an air suspension in front and in the back. In general, it is far more superior than the usual Mercedes S-Class.
And now it is even more fuel-efficient!
The new 2023 Mercedes-Maybach S580e features a 3.0-litre turbo inline-6 engine with 367 hp and a 150 hp electric motor, producing a total of 510 hp and 750 Nm. All that power goes exclusively to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox. This sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, while the maximum speed is 250 km/h. The battery with a useful capacity of 21.5 kWh (full 28.6) allows you to drive 104-121 km on pure electric traction (at speeds up to 140 km/h). The battery can be charged with 11 kW of alternating current (AC) at home (total charging time - 6 hours) or using a 60kW DC fast charger (optional) in about 40 minutes to recharge to 100%. Moreover, Mercedes-Maybach assures that the average fuel consumption of a plug-in hybrid does not exceed 1.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
