MINI Counryman crossover. 2nd generation, restyled in 2020
MINI Countryman is a 5-door 5-seater mini-crossover, which has been produced since 2010 under the MINI trademark, owned by the German concern BMW. It is available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants. The second generation of the crossover is available in the market of Israel after restyling in 2020, and in a hybrid version in 2021.
The first Countryman became the first compact crossover MINI and the first car of this manufacturer with five doors. The second generation of the model was released in 2017. And in May 2020, it became known about the restyling.
Countryman 2020 has the following dimensions: the length is 4297 mm, the width is 1822 mm, the height is 1559 mm, and the wheelbase is 2670 mm. The trunk volume is 405/1275 liters. The crossover’s road clearance is only 165 mm, so there is no need to talk about special cross-country ability. The car can be called a crossover only formally. Even with all-wheel drive, it is only suitable for the highway and the city.
Exterior
MINI Countryman 2020/2021 has received a lot of improvements and major changes inside and outside. At the same time, the 2020 restyling did not affect the overall layout of the body but gave the exterior a lot of new touches. There is a chrome grille, unlike the previous glossy one, a new front bumper with vertical air intakes, modified head optics with square lenses rather than round ones. LED headlights are now standard for the model, while adaptive optics with matrix high beams that automatically adapt to the road conditions are available at a surcharge.
The crossover has got a new bumper and other taillight design, repeating the lines of the UK flag (Union Jack in the taillights is an option). The off-road accents have been increased, which is especially evident on the Cooper S Countryman version, sporting a silver plate in the rear bumper.
The body color palette includes two new metallic finishes: White Silver and Sage Green. For the roof and mirror housings, you can select a contrasting color different from the main one: white, black, or silver. The Piano Black Exterior package is available as an option. Chrome inserts on the body are replaced with black high-gloss décor elements when ordered.
Interior
The cabin has a new 5-inch oval digital instrument cluster instead of the conventional dashboard. The center console houses a 6.5-inch multimedia display (8.8-inch - for an extra charge) and a modernized air conditioning unit.
There are black glossy inserts on the front panel and door cards. Countryman’s interior trims have been expanded with new leather options, Chester Indigo Blue, and Chester Malt Brown. The lower part of the dash panel is covered with the same material as the seats. The steering wheel has leather upholstery as standard.
Modifications
MINI Countryman 2020/2021 has come to Israel in a hybrid version. The all-wheel drive crossover, equipped with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor, has a total power of 125 hp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, developing a top speed of 194 km/h. It is supplemented by a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Trim versions
In Israel, the new MINI Countryman comes with a panoramic roof and decorative interior lighting, roof rails, LED headlights, leather interior, heated front seats and side mirrors, 2-zone climate control, a digital dashboard, and all sorts of useful features such as keyless access and engine start button. R18 wheels are standard.
The crossover is equipped with front and rear parking sensors with an automatic parking system, a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, a driving mode selection system, and a host of electronic assistants: anti-lock braking system, stabilization system, collision avoidance system, road sign recognition, driver fatigue sensor, and lane-keeping aid.
