2021 Nissan Qashqai SUV. 3rd generation
The Nissan Qashqai is a compact SUV, which has been produced by Nissan Motor Company (Japan) since 2006. At the moment, there is the third generation of this popular model on the market (as of 2021).
On February 18, 2021, Nissan unveiled the third generation Qashqai SUV. The vehicle is based on a new platform. Boasting new technologies and hybrid engines, it is actually larger than its predecessor. The Qashqai is one of the three most popular Nissan models.
Exterior
The new Nissan Qashqai is the first European Nissan model to be built on the modular CMF-C platform. The car comprises a significantly larger volume of high-strength steel elements in the body and the supporting structure, thus becoming stronger by about 41%. The hood, rear doors and front fenders are made of aluminum, and the trunk lid is made of composite materials, which reduces weight by 60 kg compared to the previous generation. The vehicle is 4,425 mm long, 1,838 mm wide and 1,635 mm high. The wheelbase has grown by 20 mm and is 2,666 mm. The trunk has increased by 74 liters, reaching 504 liters.
The SUV has acquired a completely new exterior and now looks like the older models of the brand. The front face has particularly changed, featuring the signature enlarged V-motion grille, as well as sophisticated adaptive headlights with thin sections of LED running lights above them. Bigger size makes the vehicle look more impressive.
Powertrains and chassis
In 2021, the manufacturer introduced the Nissan Qashqai e-Power hybrid version, equipped with a new 1.5 liter turbocharged petrol engine (157 hp). Unfortunately, it is not yet available in Israel. There are two options: 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine generating 140 hp and 240 Nm, as well as a 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine (115 hp). Both of them are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch semi-automatic transmission, and come with front-wheel drive only. Mono-drive versions are equipped with a simple and cheap rear torsion bar suspension (all-wheel drive versions that are not supplied to Israel have a multi-link rear suspension).
Interior
The 2021 Nissan Qashqai’s interior design is also brand new. The redesigned media system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Nissan Connect has a display that has grown from seven to nine inches and is now located where the center ventilation deflectors used to be. The latter moved to its original place. By the way, a number of vehicle functions can be remotely controlled using the NissanConnect App.
The 2-zone climate control unit has become smaller. The steering wheel is also new and has more comfortable buttons on the spokes. A standard transmission lever is replaced by a joystick, and next to it there is a wireless charging pad (in the top version). There is also a 12.3-inch customizable TFT digital instrument cluster display.
Trim levels and equipment
The new Qashqai is available with the improved ProPilot semi-automatic control system, which is able to independently change the speed of the vehicle depending on the specific road situation. The electronic assistant uses the data of the navigator and the traffic sign recognition system, as well as information about other road users from the all-round cameras.
