Peugeot 308 Hatchback. The second generation, restyling. Released since 2017

Peugeot 308 is a compact front-wheel drive C-class car from the French automobile maker, Peugeot, a member of PSA Peugeot Citroën Group. It has been released since 2007. In 2020, Israeli buyers could buy the second generation Peugeot 308 5-Door Hatchback after the 2017 restyling.

The restyled version has retained the same size and the front-wheel drive. The car has not undergone any revolutionary changes, but there are still some differences.

Distinctive features

The 2017/2018 restyled Peugeot 308 hatchback is distinguished by an upgraded front face, a more modern multimedia system, a modified engine line, as well as a set of absolutely new electronic assistants and security systems.

The exterior of the upgraded Peugeot 308 is quite stylish and modern, so you cannot miss it. The exterior is really eye-catching, the French designers did a very good job. It is noteworthy that the smooth body lines made it possible to achieve an excellent air drag coefficient of only 0.28 Cx.

Modifications

In Israel, the 2019/2020 Peugeot 308 is available with a petrol engine only. You can choose from two options: a 1.2-liter engine with 130 hp or a 1.6-liter engine with 225 hp. Both of them are turbocharged and are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The first engine accelerates to 100 km in 9.8 seconds, while the second one does it in 7.4 seconds, which is much more fun!

Trim versions

Israeli buyers can choose from two trim versions of the new 2020 Peugeot 308 hatchback: GT and Premium. And they are practically the same! Both trim versions comprise all safety systems, driving assistance systems, adaptive cruise control, 2-zone climate control, panoramic roof, front sports seats, rear and front parking sensors, automatic parking system, full-size spare wheel and standard metallic color. Both trims offer adaptive front optics with automatic high beam switching and turn lights. The GT version has pedal pads and kicking plates, body kit and R18 wheels. It looks a little more ‘sporty’. These are, perhaps, the only differences.

It is worth noting that the new Peugeot 308 2020 is packed to the hilt with all sorts of driver assistance systems! In addition to the standard for almost all upgraded Peugeots ABS, ASR, driver fatigue sensor, driving mode selection system, brake assist systems (BAS, EBD, EBA) and collision avoidance systems, traffic sign recognition and Electronic Stability Program (ESP), both trims include a very convenient lane control system, blind spot monitoring, and what is absolutely remarkable, the hill start assist (HSA) and the Vehicle Stability Management system (VSM). Thus, the ‘off-road’ qualities of the new 308 are exceptional! The best thing would be to test it on our roads!
