Nissan Navara Pickup. 4th generation, 2021 restyling
The Nissan Navara is a mid-size pickup, which has been produced by Nissan Motor (Japan) since 1985 in two- and five-seater all-wheel or rear-wheel drive versions. In Israel, in 2021, the manufacturer presented a two-cab pickup with a 2.3-liter turbocharged diesel engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Exterior and interior
The exterior of the 2021 Nissan Navara has been renewed for the first time in 6 years, and now it looks very impressive, featuring a new radiator grille with a truly massive edging and new LED headlights in expensive trim levels. The hood has become higher, whereas the front bumper is very prominent and large. The vehicle now sports new rims (17-18 inches). The stern has new taillights, a redesigned tailgate and a bumper with a built-in step. It is important that the height of the loading platform has been increased by 35 mm (up to 520 mm), and the pickup’s load capacity has increased by 45 kg.
The new Nissan Navara is a body-on-frame pickup. The 2021 model is 5,280 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,824 mm high. The wheelbase is 3,150 mm. The ground clearance is large. When loaded, about 219 mm remains between the bottom point and the road surface.
The interior has not been significantly changed. Now it features a new steering wheel, characteristic of other Nissan cars, and a 7-inch color display of the trip computer on the dashboard between the tachometer and speedometer (in expensive versions). The pickup has acquired an improved NissanConnect multimedia system with an 8-inch color touchscreen display (it includes a rear-view camera, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation).
To reduce the noise level in the passenger compartment, the glass in the front doors is now double-layered. And the new backseat in double-cab versions has acquired a different, more comfortable profile and a central armrest with cup holders.
Powertrains and chassis
The 2021/2022 Nissan Navara is equipped with a new 2.3-liter turbocharged diesel engine that can produce either 160 or 190 hp. Israeli buyers have a chance to purchase a more efficient engine, which is equipped with two turbochargers. Nissan claims this unit is unique for the segment. There is still a choice between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission (nowadays this is rare). The vehicle is rear-wheel drive or rigidly connected all-wheel drive. In Israel, the pickup comes with an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. There is a rear differential lock.
The rear drum brakes have been replaced by more efficient disc brakes, and the front disc brakes have become larger. The free travel of the rear suspension has been increased by 25 mm, and the suspension itself has been reinforced, thus increasing the load capacity to 1.2 tons. And the steering mechanism has received a modified rack, which makes it easier to maneuver at low speeds. Interestingly, the Navara still has hydraulic power steering.
Equipment
In Israel, the 2022 Nissan Navara pickup is available in the Acenta trim level and is equipped with the following options: fog lights, power accessories, light sensors, 7 airbags, antilock brake system, brake force distribution system, dynamic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, brake assist, and traction control system. There is a tire pressure monitoring system and trailer stability assist.
The restyled pickup comes with a wide range of electronic assistants, including automatic braking, all-round cameras and a lane departure warning system.
