Minicar L7. Compact and hardworking
The Minicar L7 or the Tiny L7 is a tiny electric car of L7 category (quads) and at the same time a 100% work car with an electric motor from Toyota. It can currently be found in Israel. The body resembles a single-cab pickup, albeit a very small one. The vehicle is classified as a miniature vehicle in the L7e category, with a license to drive on a public road with a yellow number plate and a Type B personal vehicle driver’s license.
The new Tiny L7 is manufactured by MINICAR, which specializes in electric vehicles. It ‘places great emphasis on the use of quality materials along with a high level of build and finish’ and uses mechanical and electronic components from the world’s leading automakers. In the case of the L7, this is a Toyota engine and electric equipment.
Exterior
The L7 Minicar is designed specifically for confined urban spaces for easier access, loading and unloading. The tiny 2-door 2-seater electric vehicle weighing only 754 kg (unladen weight) is 3,330 mm long and 1,380 mm wide, while its payload is 450 kg. The rear end has a special cargo compartment 130 cm wide and 150 cm long, which is operated by an electric lever. The roof has more than just roof rails. This is a whole structure with an emergency signal and a spare wheel, designed for the carriage of goods. The vehicle is equipped with LED headlights and taillights, as well as with R12 steel wheels.
Interior
The dashboard displays a charge meter and battery status. There is a clock display. The sound system consists of a USB connector and a pair of speakers. You can connect your smartphone and listen to your favorite music. It even has air conditioning and interior heating! There are side and rear-view mirrors, comfortable seats, seat belts for the driver and passenger, alarm, cigarette lighter and ashtray. Well, really, what else does a real hard worker need? The vehicle comes with a manual parking brake.
Powertrains and chassis
The new Minicar L7 is equipped with an electric motor (by Toyota) with only 5 kW (or 6.7 kW). The electrical system is 60-volt with the 8 kW/h battery, which provides up to 85 km of a driving range. There is a 20 amp on-board charger. It will take you about 240 minutes to fully charge your vehicle at a gas station, but it can also be charged from a regular household outlet (220 volts). Surprisingly, the L7 Minicar is capable of accelerating to 45 km/h!
The vehicle is equipped with a spring independent front suspension and the main dependent rear leaf spring suspension. The body is made of stainless steel, the rim is 12-inch metal. The vehicle is equipped with disc front brakes and rear drum brakes.
Summary
The 2021/2022 Minicar L7 is a simple, unpretentious and efficient electric vehicle, the most convenient for working in the confined urban spaces. The charging cost is about 4 shekels per 80 km, which provides huge maintenance savings. The vehicle is designed for use in urban environments, and its dimensions are adapted for maneuvers in crowded environments, including factories and markets with narrow access roads and a small turning radius. The new Minicar L7 requires only basic maintenance and the annual costs are very low compared to a car with an internal combustion engine.
