Santa Fe hybrids are more expensive and more fuel-efficient than diesel models
The Israeli market already offers hybrid modifications of the popular Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, complementing gasoline and diesel versions. The front-wheel drive hybrid version costs 309,900 shekels, while a front-wheel drive diesel model costs 269,900 shekels. The all-wheel drive hybrid version, the 4X4 Elite, costs 334,900 shekels. The Santa Fe hybrids are obviously more expensive, but let’s figure out whether they are more fuel-efficient than the diesel models!

The hybrid system of the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe is built on a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 180 hp, which is supplemented by an electric motor with a capacity of 60 hp. The total power of the system is 226 hp. The engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The hybrid SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9-9.1 seconds (depending on the type of drive). The maximum speed is 187 km/h. Fuel consumption is quite good: a front-wheel drive vehicle consumes 6.4 liters per 100 km, while an all-wheel drive version consumes a liter more. However, the diesel version offers practically the same indicators: 6.3-6.4 liters per 100 kilometers (for comparison: gasoline versions consume about 8.7-10.5 liters per 100 km/h, depending on the drive).
The Hybrid Santa Fe is 7-seater. Equipment includes an automatic braking system, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assistant, lane keeping assistant, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic monitoring systems, driver status monitoring, etc. The choice is yours.
