Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. 4th generation, 2020 restyling
The Hyundai Santa Fe is a front- or all-wheel drive mid-size SUV, produced since 2000. In the summer of 2020, the fourth generation vehicle was restyled. Israeli buyers can purchase a 7-seater version with a turbocharged diesel engine and an 8-speed semi-automatic transmission.
The vehicle underwent a major restyling that has touched everything, starting from the equipment to the N3 platform shared with the Sonata and Kia Sorento. As a result, the Santa Fe has become slightly larger, received new engines and gearboxes, and now it has a reconfigured steering system and an upgraded suspension.
Exterior and interior
The vehicle can boast of a catchy and modern design with a touch of monumentality and a claim to be luxury. The 2020/2021 Hyundai Santa Fe can be distinguished by the ‘two-story’ optics with T-shaped running lights, crossed by a body-colored jumper. The pretentious radiator grille and curved bumper are accentuated by chrome with an Asian flair for luxury. The rear end is decorated with stylish taillights connected by a red bridge. To match the impressive front face, there is a massive rear bumper. The restyled SUV is 4,785 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,685 mm high. The wheelbase of the vehicle is 2,765 mm, and the ground clearance is 185 mm.
The interior of the restyled SUV looks attractive and modern, with a hint of elitism. The three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a chubby rim, the 12.3-inch digital dashboard, and the 10.25-inch media system screen look very solid. Finishing materials are of high quality. Attention is drawn to the sloping center console, featuring the climate control unit and automatic transmission control buttons.
Powertrains and chassis
In Israel, the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe comes with a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel 4-cylinder CRDi engine, equipped with an aluminum block, Common Rail fuel injection and 16 valves. It produces 202 hp at 3,800 rpm and 440 Nm of torque at 2,750 rpm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission (Wet DCT). It consumes 6.1 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe can have both front-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch for connecting the rear wheels. In this case, the SUV is equipped with a Terrain Mode system, which provides a choice of seven driving modes (Eco, Sport, Comfort for the road, and Smart, Snow, Sand, Mud for off-road). As for the structure of the suspensions, both suspensions are independent: there is a MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear.
Equipment
There are two trim levels for Israel: Elite and Supreme. Both are very rich and differ in the type of drive: four-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, respectively. High safety is ensured by the Smartsense package, which includes: an automatic braking system, blind spot monitoring system, lane departure warning system, ‘smart’ cruise control, etc. The list of options includes leather trim, adaptive cruise control, servo drive of the fifth door, virtual dashboard, all-round cameras, media system with a 10.25-inch screen, head-up display, 19-inch wheels, Harman/Kardon audio system, ventilation and heated front seats.
