2020 Lexus IS Sedan. 4th generation
The Lexus IS is a D-class sports sedan manufactured by Lexus, a luxury car division of Toyota Motor (Japan). The car can be rear and all-wheel drive with a six- or eight-speed automatic transmission, depending on the modification. It has been produced since 1999. In 2020, the manufacturer introduced the fourth generation sedan, which is currently available on the Israeli market.
The new 2020 Lexus IS sports sedan is a representative of the Lexus Driving Signature corporate philosophy. Its final testing took place on a new test track, reminiscent of the German Nürburgring. The car will drive the driver and passengers to their destination at a speed of up to 230 km/h, provided that this speed is allowed on your road.
Distinctive features
The fourth generation Lexus IS was the first to be developed at the Toyota Technical Center in Japan. The new sedan has acquired a stiffer body, lighter springs and anti-roll bar, lower center of gravity, new body panels, aluminum front suspension arms instead of steel ones. The 4-door 5-seater sedan has become slightly longer, wider and higher. Thus, now it is 4,710 mm long, 1,840 mm wide, 1,435 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Its trunk volume reaches 450 liters. The base model now comes with 18-inch wheels, and 19-inch BBS wheels are optional.
According to the manufacturer, the new sedan offer better handling and traveling comfort. Moreover, the car is equipped with the modernized safety systems and an upgraded multimedia system. Engineers have improved the suspension, as well as vibration and noise characteristics.

The new IS has an expanded body paint palette and new interior trim options. The interior features a free-standing multimedia system screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces, which, depending on the trim level, can be 8 or 10.3 inch. The system is controlled via a touchpad on the central tunnel. The equipment list includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and automatic braking systems. The sedan features the 1800-watt Mark Levinson sound system with 17 speakers.
The optional Dynamic Handling Sport Package (DHP) offers adaptive AVS suspension and 19-inch BBS forged wheels, Sport S+ driving mode regulating the operating of engine, transmission, steering and suspension, carbon fiber spoiler and mirror caps, contrast stitching on the center console and Lexus Card Key. For the RWD model, the DHP package offers the Torsen limited slip differential.
Engines
In Israel, the new 2020/2021 Lexus IS comes in the IS 300 version. The rear-wheel drive model is equipped with a 2-liter petrol turbocharged direct fuel injection engine with 241 hp, coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Such a car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and reach speeds of up to 230 km/h.
There is also the all-wheel drive IS 300 AWD, which is equipped with a 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V6 engine with 264 hp, combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. But it is not yet supplied to Israel. Moreover, the manufacturer plans to introduce a hybrid modification and the top-end IS 500 version.
Trim levels
Israeli buyers can choose form the following sports trim of the 2021 Lexus IS sedan: F-Sport and F-Sport Plus. All of them are equipped with a sunroof, front sports seats and folding rear seats, leather interior, digital dashboard and LED headlights.
The trim levels include: 9 airbags, rear camera, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, driving mode selection system, many electronic safety systems, including anti-lock and traction control system, brake assist system, blind spot monitoring system, collision avoidance system, driver fatigue sensor, vehicle dynamic control, hill start assist, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition system.
The list of basic options for the new 2021 Lexus IS includes a Carplay and Android Auto-enabled multimedia system, Hi-Fi audio system, electrically adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, 2-zone climate control, paddle shifters, keyless entry, light and rain sensors, and adaptive lighting.
