Suzuki Ignis. Comfy, stylish, and modern
Suzuki Ignis is a compact 5-door FWD В-class hatchback from the Japanese Suzuki, produced since 2004. It can be 4WD as well. The first Suzuki Ignis was built on the Suzuki Wagon R Plus platform as a compact crossover with a road clearence of 170 mm, elevated sills, and a rigid suspension in 4WD or FWD. Three generations of Ignis are available now. The latest one is produced since 2020. It’s offered in Israel in the Hatchback 5-doors bodywork.
First generation
The first-generation Suzuki Ignis appeared in 2004. However, the timeline of the Japanese model started in 2000 with a joint project of General Motors (GM) and Suzuki. Ignis was the basis of the Chevrolet Cruze. The first compact Suzuki Ignis was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2000 and was positioned as a descendant of the Cultus model. By agreement with Subaru in Europe, Ignis was offered as Subaru G3X Justy. Except for small fog lights, a different front bumper and grille, and Subaru markings, the car was identical to the Suzuki Ignis.
In 2004, the production of the updated version of the Ignis HR was started. The update radically changed the concept of the former miniscule Ignis. The updated Suzuki Ignis 2004 received enlarged exterior details, reinforced wheel arches, and significantly increased length. Small and unassuming first-generation Suzuki Ignis was positioned as an urban family 3- or 5-door hatchback. Its simple appearance and poor technical equipment were liked by few people. Nevertheless, the demand for this small car remained rather stable until 2007, when its production was discontinued for long 8 years.
There was a gap between the production of the frst-generation Suzuki Ignis and the beginning of sales. The manufacturer took a pause to analyze the European market and develop new technologies. In 2015, Suzuki showed the brand new, bright, and stylish version of Ignis.
Second generation
The second-generation Suzuki Ignis appeared in 2015 and was sold until 2020. It has become reminiscent of a mini-crossover unlike the usual hatchback. The second-generation Ignis has a blunt shape that looks much more imposing than the previous version. The second Ignis has a strong front bumper and a sharply outlined shoulder line, which makes its exterior very individual. The engineers did not miss the big road clearance and small overhangs, so that the car has not lost its former driveability.

Inside the Ignis 2015-2020, there is a big 7-inch display of the multimedia system that can help adjust the interior temperature, adjust the car options, and use the GPS navigation. In total, the second Suzuki Ignis became a cozy and modern car.
Third generation
The third-generation Suzuki Ignis has started since February, 2020, and offered in the Israeli market. New 5-door Ignis hatchback 2020 was restyled. The new style attracts attention of other drivers. The model offers a good interior of high-level comfort to every passenger inside. Ignis 2020 is a good choice for urban driving, as it’s small for its class. The exterior is decorated with stylish headlights, beautiful outlines, and eye-catching air inlets. Inside the new Ignis, there is a new multimedia complex with every option needed for urban driving.
