The Mitsubishi Attrage is a four-door front-wheel drive C-class sedan produced by Mitsubishi Motors (Japan) since 2013. In 2021, Israeli buyers can purchase the first generation of the sedan after the 2019 restyling. The Attrage was sold in different markets in 60 countries. Prior to the restyling, a total of 280,000 cars were sold. In 2019, this affordable sedan underwent restyling, aimed at modernizing the exterior and interior.

The first generation

In the spring of 2013, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation unveiled a concept car with a simple name ‘Concept G4’, a new affordable model. It was conceived as a global city sedan for emerging markets. The final version was named Attrage and premiered at the Shanghai International Motor Show the same year. The car belongs to the C-class, is simple and looks rather humble. The sedan is essentially a version of the Mirage hatchback, a very old model of the manufacturer. The car is sold to Israel, China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. In Mexico, the sedan is available under the name Dodge Attitude, and in the USA it is called the Mitsubishi Mirage G4.

Exterior

The front face of the car is easy to remember thanks to the large headlamps on the fenders with large reflectors and tiny sections of direction indicators. The radiator grille is hexagonal and features the manufacturer’s logo, and if you remove these “three diamonds”, it is impossible to guess what brand it is. The grille consists of several horizontally oriented ribs and a relief lining along the contour. Below it, on the front bumper, you can see an elongated air intake, covered with a plastic guard and a couple of round fog lamps with elegant L-shaped overlays.

The Mitsubishi Attrage is an affordable four-door C-class sedan. Therefore, its overall dimensions are modest: it is 4,245 mm long, 1,670 mm wide, 1,515 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. As for the ground clearance, it is typical for most city cars and is equal to 150 mm. With this fit, the car will be able to drive onto a small curb and will not lose stability even at relatively high speeds.

The sedan can be distinguished by the raised front part of the roof, which provides more headroom for the front passengers. As for the body of the Mitsubishi Attrage, it is made primarily of light, but high-strength steel, making the sedan the lightest in its class. Fuel efficiency is ensured by the drag coefficient of 0.29, which is more typical for sporty cars of a higher class. The sedan has a turning radius of only 4.8 meters.

Interior

The interior combines high-quality finishing materials, practicality and verified ergonomics. Even waiting in a traffic jam or a long journey should not bring fatigue and inconvenience to the owner. The passenger compartment is one of the most spacious in the class.

The sedan has a large trunk. In the standard position, there is about 450 liters of usable space at the rear. Thanks to this volume, the model will perfectly cope with the everyday tasks of an ordinary car enthusiast, and will also be able to take on board several large suitcases. The Israeli market offers the cars assembled in Thailand.

Power trains and chassis

This affordable sedan is powered by a small 1.2 liter naturally-aspirated petrol three-cylinder engine. Thanks to the MIVEC valve timing system, the engineers managed to squeeze out 80 hp at 6,000 rpm and 106 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. As for a transmission, there are two options: a classic five-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Depending on the gearbox, acceleration to 100 km/h will take 12.7-14 seconds, and the maximum speed will be 170-182 kilometers per hour. Fuel consumption is very modest: 5.6-5.9 liters of petrol per 100 km in the city, 4.3-4.4 liters on the highway and 4.8-4.9 liters in the combined cycle.

The Mitsubishi Attrage’s chassis is classic, it is compact and cheap. There is an independent MacPherson strut with an anti-roll bar at the front and a strong elastic semi-independent beam suspension at the rear. All wheels are equipped with hydraulic shock absorbers and coil springs.
