Audi A8 is an executive class passenger car from the German automaker Audi AG, which is part of the Volkswagen Group concern. It has been produced since 1994. Nowadays the fourth generation of the 2017 Audi A8 in Sedan and Sedan Long bodies is available for purchase in the Israeli market. The history of the Audi A8 began in 1979 from the Audi 200 car based on the platform of the legendary Audi A 100. The A8 was Audi’s first standalone executive class model to compete with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series.

First generation
The first generation of Audi A8 was produced from 1994 to 2005, and it was restyled in 1999. The first A8 was surprised with its monocoque body made of aluminum alloy, the intelligent Quattro all-wheel drive system, as well as rich configurations with high-tech equipment. The first generation of Audi A8 has established itself as reliable and unpretentious relative to its main competitors BMW and Mercedes. Its bodywork was not subject to corrosion and the engines had a long service life. The first A8 received a long-wheelbase version ‘Long’ designed to carry VIP-persons after restyling in 1999.
Second generation
The second generation of the Audi A8 was produced from 2002 to 2010, it was restyled twice in 2005 and 2007. The second A8 shares a common platform with the Volkswagen Phaeton and Bentley. The body has become even lighter but also more durable, due to the use of aluminum. Externally, the Audi A8 of the second generation looked strict and laconic, and the Interior was an example of a classic style, which was successfully combined with high technology. Functions that have appeared among the options are adaptive cruise control, tire pressure sensors, multifunctional steering wheel, parking brake button. In addition to the pleasant interior and modern technological solutions for that time, the owners of the second Audi A8 liked the high driving comfort.
Third generation
The third generation Audi A8 was produced from 2009 to 2018, it was restyled in 2013. Audi has demonstrated once again that it can make beautiful and spectacular luxury cars. The third A8 received full LED optics. This made it possible to make road lighting more efficient, but also had a positive effect on the environment. Pedestrian detection system, Pre Sense, night vision, and more appeared among security systems. Security systems of the third A8 were replenished with active holding of the car in its lane, park assist, Head-Up Display after restyling in 2013.
Fourth generation
The fourth generation of the Audi A8 is produced from 2017 to the present. The fourth A8 has already won many awards! It won ‘the Best Premium Car’ in the World Car of the Year 2018 and ‘the Most Innovative Model 2018’ in the Edmunds CES Tech Driven Awards 2018.
The body of the new A8 is based on the Multimaterial Space Frame, which has been created using the latest technologies and various materials. This made it possible to reduce the weight of the structure unprecedentedly. At the same time, the engineers managed to achieve an increase in the body rigidity of the Audi A8 2017/2018 by almost a third compared to the previous model, which guarantees excellent agility with a high level of comfort. A striking feature of the new Audi A8 is the new fully active suspension, Audi AI active suspension, which significantly improves ride comfort and driving dynamics in any situation.
