Chery Arrizo 5. Chinese C-segment representative
The Chery Arrizo 5 is a European C-segment compact sedan presented at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November 2015. In the domestic market, the production car went on sale in March 2016. In September 2016, it was slightly modernized, acquiring a turbocharged engine. The model is interesting in that it gave birth to several other cars and the fact that after 7 years it still remains in service: such ‘longevity’ is completely unusual for Chinese cars. The Chery Arrizo 5 is still sold in its native country, and two cars were created on its basis: Arrizo 5 Plus and Arrizo 5 GT. Released in the fall of 2020, the new Arrizo 5 Plus has an affordable price, but at the same time, even its entry-level version offers a very decent level of equipment and can compete with, for example, the Hyundai Elantra. Launched in June 2022, the new Arrizo 5 GT sports sedan is quite different from the original Arrizo 5, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds.
Exterior
The new Chery Arrizo 5 looks quite cool, albeit secondary: if you want, you can catch the resemblance to the Hyundai Solaris. The ‘face’ of the car is quite memorable, with a trapezoidal grille and slightly ‘frowning’ headlights, joined together by a thin chrome strip. In profile, the car can boast of a dynamic silhouette with an arched roof and a short trunk. At the rear, we see a convex bumper and oddly shaped lights, apparently borrowed from the Korean hit. In terms of size, the Arrizo 5 is compact: the length is 4,572 mm, the width is 1,825 mm, the height is 1,482 mm. The wheelbase is 2,670 mm, the ground clearance is 157 mm.
Interior
The interior of the Chery Arrizo 5 2022 is quite interesting and ergonomic, although ideas from other Ford models can also be seen here. A list of equipment includes a beautiful multifunctional steering wheel, two deep wells with instruments, a beautiful center console with a 7-inch multimedia system screen and an air conditioning unit. Neither the finishing materials nor the build quality cause complaints. The front seats have a well-developed profile with pronounced support and wide adjustment ranges. The rear seats offer plenty of space. The trunk will contain 430 liters of cargo, which is not very encouraging. But it is possible to fold down a rear seat, which facilitates transportation.
The entry-level version offers two airbags, 15-inch rims, air conditioning, an audio system, a set of electric windows, heated and electric mirrors, fog lights, ABS, EBD, ESP, etc. The top-of-the-range version includes 17-inch alloy wheels, leather trim, multimedia system, rear view camera, engine start system with one button, air conditioning, side airbags and much more.
Engines
In the Chinese market, the Chery Arrizo 5 offers two gasoline engines: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine (116 hp and 141 Nm), which works with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a pseudo-seven-speed CVT. The model is front-wheel drive. An alternative is a turbocharged engine of the same volume, producing 125 hp and 205 Nm. The car has an independent MacPherson type suspension at the front and a semi-independent elastic beam at the rear. The power steering is electric, the brakes are disc and ventilated on the front axle.
