In 2018, the fourth generation Chevrolet Spark was restyled.
Chevrolet Spark is a compact A-class hatchback produced by the American company General Motors under the Chevrolet brand since 2005. Today in the Israeli market, you can buy the fourth generation of the Hatchback 5-doors Chevrolet Spark of the 2015 model year.
First generation
The history of the Chevrolet Spark began in 1998. The Italian company Fiat approached the design studio Giorgetto Giugiarro ‘Italdesign’ with a request to create the look of a small A-class car. The resulting sketches did not suit Fiat and were sold to the Korean company Daewoo. Korean engineers took the Tico model, produced since 1991, gave it an ‘Italian’ look and named it Daewoo Matiz. In 2001, Daewoo went bankrupt, and a controlling stake was bought by General Motors. Daewoo Matiz production continued, and in some European and Asian countries it was even sold as Chevrolet Matiz. In 2005, the little car underwent restyling, and already in 2006 it appeared in the markets of Europe and Russia under the name Chevrolet Spark. Therefore, the first generation of Chevrolet Spark dates back to 2005, although in fact, it is the second, taking into account the history of Matiz.
Second generation
The second generation of Chevrolet Spark was produced from 2005 to 2010. The first Spark differed from Daewoo Matiz in a modified design of the engine, chassis and suspension, new interior and exterior design, a higher level of equipment and technical innovations. The first Spark has become more convenient and comfortable, the trunk capacity has increased, engine noise has decreased and it has become more dynamic. Completely redesigned rear suspension and redesigned front suspension provide smoother ride and improved handling. The Chevrolet Spark also became the first vehicle in its class to meet European pedestrian safety standards at the front.
Third generation
The third generation Chevrolet Spark was produced from 2010 to 2016. The third Spark was built on the same, but modernized platform with an increased wheelbase. It has become longer than its predecessor. And outwardly it differed from it with a new front bumper, a radiator grill and larger wheel arches. The body of the third generation Spark was in the shape of a coupe with disguised rear door handles. A spacious interior, which is not at all typical for A-class cars, a huge windshield with excellent visibility, versatility and a great level of equipment made the Chevrolet Spark an everyone’s favorite.
The main advantage of the new Spark hatchback is its interior space, which is unusual for representatives of the ‘A’ class. Even 5 passengers will feel comfortable inside.
Fourth generation
The fourth generation of Chevrolet Spark has been produced from 2015 to the present. The new 5-door Spark hatchback received an original appearance with huge, extending to the A-pillars head optics and stylish lighting equipment. It stands out for its aggressive broken body lines, double radiator grill and hidden rear door handles. At the same time, it has excellent aerodynamics, which positively affects fuel consumption. Design of Chevrolet Spark 2019/2020 is universal - it is a car for active and confident men and women of every generation.
But the main advantage of the new Spark hatchback is its interior space, which is unusual for representatives of the ‘A’ class. Even 5 passengers will feel comfortable enough in it. The usual small trunk (170 liters) can be easily transformed into a cargo compartment with a volume of 568 liters! And this is already a very solid indicator for such a compact model. The 2020 Chevrolet Spark has enough space to fit most of your everyday items - mobile phones, bags, and more.
