The Maxus EUNIQ 6 is an all-electric mid-size SUV introduced in 2021 under the Maxus brand by the Chinese company SAIC. The EUNIQ 6 is built on the SAIC MAXUS MERA intelligent platform and is quite similar to the SAIC MAXUS D60. It will be available in 2 versions: electric and plug-in hybrid. In Israel, you can officially purchase the first generation SUV (as of 2021), so we’d like to tell you more about it.

The Maxus D60 SUV, which serves a basis for the EUNIQ 6, is aimed at the European market. Therefore, the manufacturer tried to diversify it as much as possible. A model can be 5-seater or 7-seater. Moreover, there are gasoline, hybrid and all-electric versions to choose from. All these versions are basic and differ only in the type of drive, otherwise they are almost identical.

Exterior

The new Maxus EUNIQ 6 looks quite decent, featuring an unpretentious and well-balanced body. The design may be a bit outdated, but Maxus does not pretend to be ultra-futuristic. Although the SUV’s headlights are LED, they are narrow and trendy. The all-electric version has no grille at all, which makes the front end design more sophisticated. Plus, the electric EUNIQ 6 comes with special wheels and tires with low airflow and rolling resistance. The exhaust pipes on the electric version are simply replaced with chrome trim. The electric vehicle is 4,735 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,736 mm high. The wheelbase reaches 2,760 mm, while the ground clearance is 160 mm. You should immediately understand that this is definitely not an off-road vehicle or an advanced SUV, but a front-wheel drive vehicle designed for purely city conditions.

Interior

The interior is quite spacious. There may be not enough headroom for tall people, but the vehicle offers a decent legroom. The 2021 Maxus EUNIQ 6 is well-equipped, featuring a 12.3-inch virtual dashboard, color head-up display, 14-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system and much more, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous parking, and level 2.5 semi-autonomous driving capabilities. Not all European vehicles can offer so much.

Powertrain

The new Maxus EUNIQ 6 comes with two battery options: a 52.5 kWh lithium-ion pack and a 70 kWh battery. The 52.5 kWh battery provides a driving range of up to 350 km (NEDC cycle), whereas the 70 kWh battery can offer 510 km (NEDC cycle). The driving range within the European WLTP test cycle can be approximately 400-475 km.

It will take you less than 9.5 hours to fully charge a smaller battery or 11 hours to charge a larger one if you use a conventional AC charger. You can also use a fast charger to charge up to 80% in 30-35 minutes. The model is equipped with one electric motor, which develops 130 kW and a torque of 310 Nm. It is capable of generating a top speed of up to 170 km/h.

The hybrid version of the EUNIQ 6 PLUG IN uses the same radiator grille as the gasoline-powered SUV. The hybrid essence of this vehicle is shown only by the blue decorative stripes and the blue background in the headlight group. As for the rest, the new vehicle looks the same as the gasoline-powered model, even the 19-inch wheels are the same.

Safety

As for safety, in addition to a full set of airbags and curtains, in accordance with European standards, the 2021/2022 Maxus EUNIQ 6 is equipped with such advanced systems as lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, lane change assist and rear cross traffic warning.
