The Feifan F7 is a 5-meter long electric liftback with single or twin motor propulsion systems and a driving range of 600 km. The stylish and long-range vehicle, unveiled in February 2023, is based on the ‘closely related’ SUV, the [Feifan R7], which debuted in the summer of 2022. Therefore, it is quite similar to the ‘source’, but it has turned out to be much larger. The F7 liftback will be sold at the end of March. At the same time, it can already be preordered. In China, the new Feifan F7 costs between 41,000 and 52,000 dollars.

SAIC, a Chinese company that actually owns Feifan, develops a network of battery replacement stations. During 2023, China will have 300 such stations, and by the end of 2025, there will be 10 times more stations.

Similarity to the SUV

Both vehicles look very similar outwardly, with the exception of the light strip that connects the headlights of the R7 SUV, which has been removed for the Feifan F7. The new Feifan F7 is 5 meters long, which makes it 100 mm longer and 28 mm wider (1,953 mm) than the SUV, but 161 mm lower (1,494 mm). The wheelbase of the liftback is 3,000 mm, while the SUV has a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. There are 19- or 20-inch wheels to choose from. The aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.206 makes the new model one of the most aerodynamic in the world. The car has received frameless doors with retractable handles and a huge glass roof made of electrochromic glass.

Interior and equipment

Inside, the liftback is also very similar to the original SUV, as well as to the Mercedes-Benz! The front panel, called Trinity, accommodates three screens combined into a single unit, running on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The operating system has been developed by Feifan The first screen is for a 10.25-inch dashboard. The 15.05-inch multimedia system display sits proudly in the center and is complemented by a 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger. Separately, there is a projection screen with augmented reality function. And at the back, there is another 8-inch touch screen that allows rear passengers to control climate control, heated seats and other functions. The trunk volume reaches 466 liters. The car is planned to be equipped with a level 3 autopilot, but this is a matter of the future, as long as there is only adaptive cruise control. To operate the autopilot, two ZF Premium4D radars, cameras and sensors around the perimeter are installed on the car.

Since the 2023 Feifan F7 shares a platform with the R7, it has two similar designs. The entry-level version comes with an electric motor with a capacity of 340 hp. Such a car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and is able to travel up to 666 km without recharging thanks to a battery with a capacity of 90 kWh. The battery itself is quick-detachable, so it can be easily changed at a special station in just 2.5 minutes. The more expensive all-wheel drive version has two electric motors with the total output of 544 hp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. The driving range of such a car is 600 km. To clarify: the driving range is calculated according to the optimistic Chinese CLTC cycle, which is very loyal to the cars. The liftback features a double wishbone suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear.
