Update:

In 2019, the manufacturer released a restyled version, featuring a number of new technological solutions and an upgraded exterior and interior design.

The Hyundai IONIQ is the first C-class hybrid car from the South Korean car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor, produced since 2016. In 2020, the 2016 first generation Hyundai IONIQ 5-Door Hatchback was offered on the Israeli market.

Hyundai IONIQ, first introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, combines elements of both a plug-in hybrid and an electric vehicle. The name ‘IONIQ’ consists of two words that fully reflect the concept of the vehicle. ‘ION’ means an ion, an electrically charged particle that receives energy by combining and separating electrical force, and ‘Unique’ describes the exceptionality of the vehicle.

The platform of the first 2016/2017 Hyundai IONIQ is made of high-strength steel, which makes the body more rigid. The hood, doors and trunk lid are made of aluminum, thus reducing the weight. The refined design consists of flowing lines and multi-layered patterns. A drag coefficient of just 0.24 is a reflection of the IONIQ’s delicate design and travelling comfort fused together. The 2019/2020 Hyundai IONIQ demonstrates superior aerodynamics, setting new standards in the world of electric vehicles.

According to the results of crash tests conducted by Euro NCAP in 2016, the Hyundai IONIQ was recognized as the safest small family car!

The use of modern technologies contributes to the optimal distribution of air flows, which significantly optimizes fuel consumption. The lithium polymer battery is located under the rear seats of the Hyundai IONIQ. As for its safety, according to the results of crash tests conducted by Euro NCAP in 2016, the Hyundai IONIQ was recognized as the safest small family car!

The interior of the new hybrid hatchback uses recycled plastic interior panels in combination with timber, wood species and sugarcane raw materials. The 2020 Hyundai IONIQ, the first hybrid car, will definitely become popular due to a variety of the newest electronic assistants, absence of harmful emissions and excellent driving dynamics!
