Jaguar XF is a luxury executive car, produced by Jaguar Land Rover (UK) since 2008. It is available in sedan and estate bodies. It may be RWD or AWD, and also has sports versions. As of 2020, the second-generation Jaguar XF 2015 was offered in the market of Israel.
Today’s XF is an offspring of the legendary Jaguar S-Type. First unveiled in 2007 in Frankfurt, XF showed a lot of difference from the updated S-Type, though these two cars shared the same platform. The light aluminum body of XF receive a lot of positive feedback as well as driveability and fuel efficiency.
First generation
The first generation was produced from 2007 to 2016 and restyled in 2010. The first XF was designed in the Jaguar’s design center in Wheatley, Coventry, UK, and produced in Birmingham. The car was designed on the updated platform of its predecessor, but received new body and interior - concise, austere, and fast-paced. The interior of the first-generation Jaguar XF had Jaguar’s vibes with striking aluminum finishing.
In 2009 at the Detroit Auto Show, the sports XF version called Jaguar XFR was unveiled. XFR set a speed record of the volume cars by achieving the top speed of 363 km/h. The top Jaguar XF version had a direct-fuel-injection 5-L compressor engine of 5.0 L. The atmospheric version of this V8 had an output of 385 hp, while the compressor version of Jaguar XFR - 510 hp. Another version, XFR-S, with a turbocharged 550-hp engine appeared later.
Restyled in 2010, Jaguar XF received an XJ-style design and a refreshed interior. New ‘Ford’s’ turbocharged engines were installed on the car at the same time. Every version received an 8-speed automatic transmission instead of a 6-speed one. In 2012, the first Jaguar XF Sportbrake estate was unveiled. In 2013, the production of the respective FWD Jaguars started.
Second generation
The second-generation Jaguar XF is produced since 2015 until now (as of 2020). The new XF is 7 mm shorter than its predecessor, but has a 51 mm longer wheelbase. The increased span between the axles provides an extra legroom of 15 mm for the rear passengers, 24 mm for their knees, and 24 mm overhead space. Jaguar XF 2015/2016 is assembled on a new platform. It has received a new 4-cylinder engine and effective LED optics.
The new Jaguar XF is incarnation of the perfect taste and luxury. It’s a masterpiece, where the designers' ideas are materialized in the best materials, concentrion of ideal and all-out comfort.
At the bottom of the windscreen, there is an elegant Riva Hoop arc, first seen in the interior of the Jaguar XJ. Instead of a microlift lid, the cupholder recess has a ‘caterpillar’ curtain recessed against the tunnel liner. The aperture panel, including the rear fender with a beautiful shape of the rear window, weighs as little as 6 kg. But this is not about the weight. The design of the new Jaguar XF uses an aluminum alloy made of the recyclables, by half received from the company’s own production waste.
The rampant ‘frowning’ headlights of the new XF create expressive and even bellicose air. A big square jaw of the grille with two air intakes on each side drink air hungrily. The new corporate design is full of juvenile eagerness and sporting mood.
The new Jaguar XF embodies the perfect taste and luxury. It’s a masterpiece, where the designers' ideas are materialized in the best materials, allowing to experience the real comfort. On every seat of the sun-soaked interior of the Jaguar XF, where every part is carefully and insightfully designed, you can enjoy an exquisite atmosphere of sophistication.
