Mitsubishi Attrage. 1st generation, restyled in 2019
The Mitsubishi Attrage is a 4-door FWD golf-class sedan from Japanese Mitsubishi Motors company. It has been produced since 2013. In early 2013, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation began the production of an affordable model called Attrage (named after the word ‘attract’). It is a 4-door sedan with a roomy trunk and a very fuel-saving motor. This car belongs to the golf class, and in Israel, the sedan has been offered since December 2013. In July 2020, restyled versions of Mitsubishi Attrage arrived at the car dealerships all over the country.
Exterior
Normally, the Mitsubishi Attrage cars are assembled at the tried-and-true Mitsubishi’s factory in Thailand. The update has brought a lot of changes to the exterior: first of all, the headlights of a more attractive shape catch the eye, then you realize that the affordable car now also has an exterior designed in the signature Dynamic Shield style. Not only the plastic exterior parts had to be changed for this, but also the bodywork iron. The hood became longer. Thus, the total length of a car has grown up to 4305 mm. The increase in wheelbase or trunk output did not affect it.
The rear bumper has also been changed and there are new 15-inch wheels. The rear lights now have LED segments, and the expensive versions also have LED headlights.
Interior
Slight changes in the interior mainly affected the finishing materials and decor. For instance, carbon fiber inserts were introduced, giving the simple interior a modern look. There is a new, more convenient folding armrest, attached to the driver’s seat. The restyled Attrage received a media system Smartphone Display Audio (SDA) with a 7-inch display. There are a lot of little things needed day after day, such as additional storage compartments for items.
Engines and chassis
In terms of engineering, everything remains unchanged. In 2021 in Israel, the Attrage was offered with the same 3-cylinder 1.2 L atmospheric engine with the MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system). Power is a respectable 80 hp at 6,000 rpm and 106 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm for this displacement. This car belongs to the low air pollution class.
The automotive company offers a continuously variable CVT. This powertrain provides a leisurely acceleration to 100 km/h kilometers per hour: in 14.9 seconds, and the top speed is 174 kilometers per hour. Fuel consumption is very modest: 5.8 L of gasoline per 100 km in the city, up to 4.5 L on the highway, and about 5 L in the mixed cycle.
Equipment
2020/2021 Mitsubishi Attrage is sold in Israel as Instyle. It belongs to the rich versions and includes power windows, cruise control with control keys on the steering wheel, climate control with a digital display, keyless entry and push-button engine start, HSA, lane-keeping aid, automatic low/high beam switching.
6 airbags and the RISE body design improve the safety of the car. RISE is enhanced passive safety technology. It involves a reinforced car frame. It protects the interior in the most vulnerable points. And these are not only in frontal impacts. Through this system, both passengers and drivers are as safe as possible, regardless of the impact direction during the potential car accident. All the programmed deformation zones dissipate the force of the impact away from the passenger compartment.
