Peugeot 2008. Sophisticated urban SUV
Peugeot 2008 is a mini-SUV produced by Peugeot (France) since 2013, and it was then that it was first presented at the Geneva Motor Show. The first generation was on sale until the end of 2019, with the restyled version being released in 2016. In early 2019, the second generation of this compact 5-door SUV entered the market. In Europe, the Peugeot 2008 is one of the TOP 20 best-selling models.
The first generation
The Peugeot 2008 shares its platform and 2/3 common parts with the Peugeot 208. The very first 2008 was produced as an estate. And only its second generation acquired a mini-SUV body. Despite the declared class of the car, the 2008 is not all-wheel drive, it is front-wheel drive and also has a rather low ground clearance, but it is equipped with the Grip Control traction control system and has the ability to turn off the ESP (electronic stability program). Road inequalities are not a problem for the Peugeot 2008. It has an excellent steering response, just as expected from Peugeot. Even on a wet slippery road, the SUV holds on to the trajectory to the last, inciting the driver to pass the next banking faster. Thanks to the precise settings of the electric power steering, the driver can always stay in contact with the car, especially with a small and sporty steering wheel.
The Peugeot 2008 has many advantages over the 208. Thus, the first generation SUV has a 350 liter trunk versus a 285 liter version for the Peugeot 208. And the second generation can offer even more. The seats fold down to an almost perfectly flat floor, creating a free space of 1,400 liters. Plus, the interior offers enough space for two passengers in the back, and even more space above the head. The French ‘tricks’ also come into the picture. The first generation Peugeot 2008 has no armrests at the front or at the rear. And the most surprising thing is that there is not a single cup holder. In 2016, the car underwent restyling.
Peugeot is not only eye-catching, stylish and attractive, but also convenient, comfortable, safe and functional.
In 2013, the Peugeot 2008 passed The European New Car Assessment Program test for active and passive safety and received quite high scores, for example, safety for an adult passenger was 88%, active safety was 70%. Peugeot is not only eye-catching, stylish and attractive, but also convenient, comfortable, safe and functional.
The second generation
The 2nd generation Peugeot 2008 entered the market at the beginning of 2019. With the change of generations, the Peugeot 2008 has grown in size, acquired a more stylish body design and a number of other innovations. The second generation SUV has every chance to rise even higher in the European rating, which is facilitated by the design inspired by the older Peugeot 3008 SUV, and the presence of electric modification.
The 2019/2020 Peugeot 2008 is built on the modern, modular CMP platform with fully independent front and semi-independent rear suspension. This platform makes it possible to significantly reduce the weight of the car and effectively damp the vibrations of the body elements.

The ‘second’ Peugeot 2008 looks more aggressive and sporty than the ‘first’ one and has much in common with the Peugeot 3008. The SUV has ceased to be too compact: it is 4,300 mm long (+141 mm), 1,770 mm wide (+31 mm), has a 112 mm wheelbase and the distance between the axles of 2,650 mm. Moreover, the trunk of the second generation Peugeot 2008 is now 405 liters deep instead of 360 liters, plus there are additional 29 liters under the floor.
