Range Rover Sport. Off-road dynamics
Range Rover Sport is a mid-size four-wheel drive luxury SUV from the British automobile maker, Land Rover, produced since 2005. In 2020, the Israeli market offered the second generation Range Rover Sport 5-Door SUV, which underwent restyling in 2017.
The first generation
The first generation Range Rover Sport was produced from 2005 to 2013, while its restyling took place in 2009. The concept of the new Land Rover Range Rover Sport was first shown at the Detroit Motor Show in 2004. The Range Rover Sport is a sports vehicle based on the Discovery platform with the body of a large Range Rover.
The first Range Rover Sport boasted a sporty exterior, reduced roof height, adjustable air suspension and numerous electronic auxiliary systems. As a result, the sporty vehicle provided good off-road performance, which was largely ensured by the Terrain Response intelligent drive system. The adaptive air suspension with electronic control unit is another argument in favor of the Range Rover Sport’s off-road qualities. The Sport model was the first to be equipped with upgraded Jaguar power units. After the restyling in 2009, the modernized Range Rover Sport boasted a new exterior and a completely redesigned interior, new suspension fittings and new engines.
The second generation
The second generation Range Rover Sport has been produced from 2013 to the present, while its restyling took place in 2017. The second Range Rover Sport is a completely new vehicle. Its body is now ‘slimmer’ and longer, and the wheelbase has become bigger. At the same time, the SUV has become slightly lower compared to its predecessor. A longer and lower silhouette looks very dynamic.
The new Range Rover Sport has an all-aluminum body similar to the flagship Range Rover of the new generation. The vast majority of the chassis components are made from aluminum. As a result, the weight of the SUV has decreased by 350-420 kg (depending on the modification)! Thanks to this ‘weight loss’, the sports SUV has significantly improved dynamics and steering response, and fuel consumption has decreased by an average of 24%.
The new Range Rover Sport boasts increased ground clearance, suspension travel and access angles as compared to its predecessor. The ford depth has increased to 850 mm, and the vehicle is able to measure it by displaying the readings on the front panel display.

For the Range Rover Sport only, this system has an additional dynamic position, which tightens all vehicle settings. It is now a truly sports vehicle that combines great on-road steering response and amazing off-road performance.
2017 restyling
Upgraded in 2017, the Range Rover Sport has a new front face design, a new grille and front bumper, new LED headlights, each of which includes 12 static LED elements in the standard trim (the advanced version may include 26 and 71 LEDs in each headlight!).
The 2019/2020 Range Rover Sport is equipped with the best high-tech fittings, two large screens of the TouchPro Duo infotainment system, refrigerator with two cooling modes, Wi-Fi access point and 4G internet. It has become even more comfortable! For example, a panoramic sunroof can be controlled by gesture. And a key bracelet is offered as an option for those who love water activities (waterproof key).
