The Nissan Sentra is a mid-size five-seater sedan by Nissan Motor (Japan) with a two-liter engine and a CVT. The eighth generation car with a completely new image debuted at the 2019 Auto Show in Los Angeles. In 2021, the 2019 model was available on the Israeli market.

Exterior

The new Nissan Sentra looks cool with its V-shaped grille and new LED optics (optional). The 2019 sedan has hardly changed in length (about 4.6 m), but it has become wider by 52 mm (1,815 mm wide) and lower by 56 mm (1,450 mm high). The wheelbase has been increased from 2,700 to 2,712 mm. The track has also grown by 52 mm, while the center of gravity is closer to the road. But most importantly, the sedan has acquired a new chassis with an independent rear suspension instead of the old beam. All of these changes promise an improved steering response.

Some versions of the 2019/2020 Nissan Sentra have a two-tone body paint and LED headlights, whereas the top-end SR version is distinguished by a spoiler on the trunk lid, black decor, door sills and 18-inch wheels. The Safety Shield 360 package comes in the basic trim level. Adaptive cruise control and all-round cameras are provided for a surcharge.

However, Israeli buyers can only purchase the SV version. It features 16-inch alloy wheels, halogen headlights and the heated outside mirrors fitted with a turn signal. The car can be two-tone painted in compliance with the buyer’s wishes, in which case the mirrors will be the same color as the roof of the car.

Interior

The interior of the 2019 sedan has been redesigned to match the exterior with a beveled steering wheel, aviation-inspired ventilation vents in the center and a massive center tunnel to which the engine start button has been relocated. The sound insulation quality has been improved.

The second-row headrests are made in one piece with the backrest, and they cannot be removed or adjusted. Simple versions have a 4.2-inch display in the instrument cluster and a 7-inch media system touchscreen. And sedans for Israel boast a 7-inch on-board computer screen, which occupies half of the dashboard with classic dial gauges, and a multimedia system with an 8-inch display, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions.

Powertrains and chassis

In Israel, the 2020/2021 Nissan Sentra is equipped with an American 2-liter 4-cylinder multipoint injection engine. It produces 149 hp. The only transmission option is an Xtronic CVT and front-wheel drive. Such a car is very dynamic and accelerates to 100 km/h in just 8.8 seconds. This truly fuel-efficient car consumes 8.1 l/100 km in the city and 6 l/100 km outside the city.

The current Sentra is equipped with an independent suspension: MacPherson strut at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. It features electric power steering and disc brakes, whereas the front ones are ventilated.

Equipment

The new Nissan Sentra is delivered to Israel in the SV trim level. It includes: a multimedia system with a color touch 8-inch screen, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 6 speakers, a multifunction steering wheel with Bluetooth headset control keys, cruise control, a rear view camera, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), an on-board computer with 7-inch color screen, 2-zone climate control. Plus, the driver’s seat is manually adjustable with the choice of 6 positions and the passenger’s seat can be adjusted in 4 positions.

Safety is ensured by the following equipment: 10 airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, Nissan Safety Shield 360 package, consisting of all-round control and emergency braking systems. There is also a tire pressure monitoring system. The driver can rely on a dynamic stability control system, traction control system, a lane departure warning system with steering wheel vibration and a high-beam control system.
