Skoda Octavia RS 2020. Bodywork, Exterior. Liftback, 4 generation
Update:

In 2020, the manufacturer introduced the new generation of the Octavia RS.

The Skoda Octavia RS is a sports version of the Octavia, a mid-size ‘C’ class car from the Czech car manufacturer Škoda Auto, it is available in Liftback and Estate 5-doors bodies. This is the real ‘hot’ charged model of the popular Octavia, which was first introduced in 2001. Three generations of this car have already been released by 2020, the last of which can be purchased in Israel in a restyled version of 2017.

Unlike just the Octavia, the Octavia RS has a chassis with ‘sporty’ characteristics with reduced ground clearance and stiffer springs. The Skoda Octavia RS is equipped with an electronic imitation differential lock (XDS) and the so-called Performance Sound Generator, which gives the sound of the engine in the cabin ‘sporty notes’. The source of sound vibrations is an electromagnetic pulse generator located under the front windshield. The frequency and intensity of the sound depending on the selected profile, on the engine speed, driving speed, and engine load, that is, on the position of the gas pedal.

First generation

The first sports Octavia RS was produced from 2001 to 2006 and externally differed from the usual Octavia with a front bumper, a spoiler on the trunk lid, and a stainless steel exhaust tip. Initially, the RS only existed in the liftback body. A practical station wagon appeared two years later as part of another modernization. The interior of the first generation of Skoda Octavia RS had front sports seats and had more knee room for the rear passengers than a simple Octavia. There is increased body rigidity, upgraded suspension, effective braking system. This is an incomplete list of differences between the first Octavia RS from its usual road version.

Second generation

The second generation of Skoda Octavia RS was produced from 2005 to 2013. A restyled version appeared in 2009. After restyling, the design was redesigned in favor of modernity and dynamism, especially the front of the car and the optics. The 2010 Skoda Octavia RS modification, capable of accelerating to 240 km/h, was especially popular.

The Skoda Octavia RS is equipped with a Performance Sound Generator, which gives the engine sound in the cabin a ‘sporty note’. The source of sound vibrations is an electromagnetic pulse generator located under the front windshield. The frequency and intensity of the sound depend not only on the selected profile but also on the engine speed, driving speed, and engine load, that is, on the position of the gas pedal.

Third generation

The third generation Skoda Octavia RS has been produced from 2014 to the present. It was restyled in 2017/2018. The third Octavia RS received a new, angularly fast design, a new dashboard with a color display, stainless steel lining on the sills and pedals. In 2015, European sales of diesel versions of the Skoda Octavia RS began, some of which were equipped with all-wheel drive. Skoda Octavia RS has two bodies which are liftback and station wagon.

In the same year, one of the most powerful variants of the Octavia appeared. It was named RS 230. A little later, the Octavia RS 245 with a 243-horsepower gasoline turbo engine was released. It was recognized as the most powerful and fastest serial ‘Octavia’ in history. It can accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, and its electronically limited top speed is 250 km/h.
