The Lamborghini Aventador (LP700-4) is a two-door two-seater sports car produced by Lamborghini (Italy) since 2011. It has a front-engine, four-wheel drive layout. The bull won an award for outstanding bravery in the arena, and its name was immortalized in the name of the Lamborghini supercar.

Aventador in movies

The Dark Knight Rises (directed by Christopher Nolan, 2012) is the most famous movie, featuring a Lamborghini Aventador. The silver-colored Aventador belongs to Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), whose secret alter ego is Batman. When filming A Good Day to Die Hard (2013) featuring Bruce Willis, 518 cars were damaged and smashed. The movie director, John Moore, who is a big fan of beautiful cars, had a hard time watching how his stuntmen were damaging good cars. It was especially difficult for him to handle the loss of a real Lamborghini Aventador when filming one of the chase scenes. Keanu Reeves as the villainous Donak Mark in Man of Tai Chi (2013) drove a white Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini Aventador.

Beauty and glory

The Lamborghini Aventador was first unveiled on February 28, 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show as the new flagship model of the Italian supercar manufacturer. The car was designed by Felippo Perini. The first Aventador had a traditional style, borrowed from the first models of the Italian brand, featuring a wide, aerodynamic and aggressive body, a low center of gravity, as well as large and wide wheels. The manufacturer planned to limit the production of the supercar to 4,000 cars. However, a total of 5,000 units were produced in 2016, and this indicator reached 10,000 cars in 2020.

On July 31, 2011, the Aventador was tested by the iconic Top Gear show. As a result, the car received mixed reviews from Richard Hammond. Despite being impressed with the performance and handling of the car, the host’s biggest complaint was a nostalgic poke at the Aventador’s accessible temperament, implying that it left him longing for the ‘danger’ associated with driving previous Lamborghini supercars. The Aventador completed the Top Gear lap with a time of 1:16.5, ahead of the Bugatti Veyron Supersport, which could generate more than 1,000 hp!

Power and superpower

The Lamborghini Aventador is equipped with a new 6.5-liter 12-cylinder engine with cylinders arranged at 60 degrees, generating a maximum torque of 690 Nm at 5,500 rpm. This power attracts not only those who love fast driving, but also those who are obliged to keep order: the patrol version of the Aventador was sent to serve in the Dubai police. In the spring of 2013, supercars, painted in the official colors of local law enforcement agencies, started their fight against street racers. The violators had few chances to escape, because the car developed a maximum speed of 350 km/h, and it took it only 2.9 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h!

The car comes with a 7-speed one clutch transmission. The gears can shift in 50 milliseconds. The all-wheel drive system, developed by Haldex Traction (Sweden), is electronically controlled. There is a double wishbone suspension.

It is hard to remain complacent, that’s why the manufacturer managed to produce even more powerful Aventador cars. Sometimes, such cars were available in a single copy, for example, the SC18 Alston (November 2018) with the aerodynamic body kit from the Huracan GT3 model or the Aventador J, a pre-production model of the future roadster.

There were also small batches of such cars as the 2015 SuperVeloce (750 hp, acceleration to hundreds - 2.8 seconds; maximum speed - 350 km/h) or the 2013 LP720-4 50° Anniversario, released in honor of the 50th anniversary of the company (720 hp, improved aerodynamics). The Centenario is also worthy of mention, as this is a unique supercar based on the Aventador SV. The Centenario coupe and roadster were unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show to celebrate the 100th birthday of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the company founder.

2016 restyling

On December 19, 2016, the restyled Aventador S was presented at the plant in Sant’Agata (Italy). The car was officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. The restyled version of Lamborghini Aventador S underwent some technical and external changes. The 6.5-liter V12 engine now develops 740 hp at 8,400 rpm and 690 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The suspension has been upgraded and is controlled by the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva (LDVA) system. LDVA has four modes: Sport, Strada (street), Corsa (track) and Ego (individual). The carbon ceramic brakes are standard (front: 400mm, rear: 380mm). The nose has been redesigned, acquiring a large front splitter and two new air vents in the front bumper. At the rear, the car features a new finned rear diffuser and three single-outlet tailpipes. The downforce is now 130% more than that of the previous Aventador.

The roadster version based on the new Aventador S was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt International Motor Show. The roadster is 50 kg heavier than the coupe due to the reinforcing elements, so it accelerates 0.3 seconds slower than the coupe. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 3.2 seconds.
