The Koenigsegg Gemera is a four-seater megacar produced since 2020 by Koenigsegg (Sweden), involved in small-scale manufacturing. This all-wheel drive car comes with a hybrid system with a total capacity of 1,723 hp.

The car’s exterior was designed in collaboration with Alexander Selipanov, who designed the exterior of the Bugatti Chiron coupe and was in charge of creating a design of the Genesis brand. The Koenigsegg Gemera is 4,975 mm long, 1,988 wide and 1,295 mm high. The wheelbase equals to three meters, and the unladen weight is 1,850 kg.

Aiming to occupy new market niches, many manufactures choose to build four-seater cars, even though they have not created such products before. But few of the four-seater models can boast of the dynamics of a rocket: the fantastic Gemera accelerates to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds, reaching the maximum speed of 400 km/h! Do you want such a car for yourself? Then keep in mind that Koenigsegg sells its products in very small quantities, only a few dozen copies. By the way, the company’s megacars have already set many world speed records.

Such a sky-high power comes from a new hybrid system comprising a two-liter engine. This engine has only three cylinders, but it has twin turbochargers and an individual valve drive system. This unit has no camshafts, and each of the valves is driven by an electronically controlled electro-pneumatic actuator. The engine is called TFG or Tiny Friendly Giant. This miracle was designed by FreeValve AB (Sweden), owned by Christian von Königsegg, founder of the company and auto maker.

The fantastic Gemera accelerates to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds, reaching the maximum speed of 400 km/h!

The Gemera’s engine can run on ethanol, methanol, including biofuels derived from renewable raw materials, petrol and an E85 blend. It is quite surprising, but it weighs only 70 kg and develops an amazing power of 608 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Plus, the amazing Gemera has three electric motors: the first one, with 405 hp and 500 Nm, is located on the crankshaft and, together with the petrol engine, rotates the front wheels. The second and third electric motors drive the rear wheels, each producing 507 hp and 1,000 Nm. The combined output of the hybrid system reaches 1,723 hp and 3,500 Nm! This amounts to approximately 1.27 MW, and supercars above 1 megawatt are called megacars. The Gemera has a proprietary KDD (Koenigsegg Direct Drive) transmission without a gearbox.

Using only the TFG engine, the megacar can travel 950 km, whereas the hybrid propulsion provides a range of 1,000 km. The car has an 800 V liquid cooled traction battery with a capacity of 16.6 kW/h. This battery provides a drive range of 50 km, and it is possible to use only electric traction at speeds up to 300 km/h.

The interior features four full-fledged seats, which are hidden behind two spectacular branded lift doors. The car has two luggage carriers (front and rear), but their total volume is only 200 liters. The passenger compartment of the Swedish hypercar can offer as many as 8 cup holders. The media system is also impressive: it is equipped with a 13-inch screen. It is located in the center of the front panel and is ‘duplicated’ for back row passengers.

The Gemera’s engine can run on ethanol, methanol, including biofuels derived from renewable raw materials, petrol and an E85 blend.

The list of amazing features of the Swedish megacar is not exhaustive. The Gemera has a fully-controlled chassis, a monocoque and external body panels made of carbon fiber. The car is equipped with adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning system. In total, it was decided to build 300-350 cars.
