New Porsche Taycan offers a longer driving range
At the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show Automobility event, which opened on November 19, Porsche unveiled its new Taycan GTS. The car, a ‘happy medium’ as the manufacturer calls it, will be available as a sedan or an estate. The modification can already be preordered, and the buyers will be able to receive their GTS in early 2022. In addition to the Taycan, Porsche will have other premieres: the Panamera Platinum, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
The new Porsche Taycan sedan is officially available in Israel. The most powerful modification Turbo S is equipped with a 761 hp electric power unit and a 93.4 kWh battery. The driving range is 390 km. The all-wheel drive sedan accelerates to the first 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, developing the maximum speed of 260 km/h. The top-end Taycan Turbo with a total output of 680-horsepower and the same battery travels 452 km without recharging and accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.
In the Porsche range, the Taycan GTS electric sports car is between the Taycan Turbo and the Taycan 4S. When the overboost sport mode and the launch control are activated, the car is capable of producing an impressive 598 hp. That’s 82 hp less than the top-end Turbo, and 27 hp more than the Performance Plus 4S. The new Porsche Taycan GTS is equipped with a 93.4 kilowatt-hour battery, and thanks to the 800-volt charging, the energy grows from 5 to 80% in just 22.5 minutes. Today, the GTS has the longest driving range among all Taycan modifications (WLTP cycle), reaching 504 km.
The new Porsche Taycan GTS is capable of traveling over 500 km on a single charge. It also has the world’s first electrochromic rooftop.
A large battery ‘feeds’ two electric motors, which accelerate the car to 100 km/h (both sedan and estate) in 3.7 seconds. The sports character of the 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS was accentuated by black exterior elements. For example, the entry-level version comes with 20-inch black Taycan Turbo S Aero Design wheels (there are also optional 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels in the same shade) and tinted matrix headlights. The interior also features elements of the color of the night, made of brushed aluminum with a black finish, and numerous GTS logos. Such an eye-catching design is complemented by the menacing roar of the motor, which is reproduced by the sound system installed in the silent electric car.
In order to handle the motor power, the new Porsche Taycan GTS comes with Porsche’s Active Suspension Management system (PASM), borrowed from the Taycan Turbo, but with its own settings. The options include a fully steerable chassis and sport brakes. It also has the world’s first electrochromic rooftop, consisting of nine individually controlled segments. The rooftop has several transparency options (Clear, Matt, Semi, Bold).
