ORA. The Funky Cat is already in Israel!
A compact electric hatchback, the OPA Funky Cat with a cute retro design and a driving range of 310 - 420 km has finally arrived in Israel! For those who are especially impatient, it will cost from 137,900 shekels. The start of sales was announced by Colmobil, an importer of Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Mercedes in Israel. In addition, Colmobil reports that only the first 900 buyers will receive the Chinese electric hatchback at this price, and the regular price will start at 144,900 shekels. Probably, we should hurry… In the coming weeks, 7 stores will open: 2 central and 5 more points of sale in different locations. The flagship showroom is located in the center of Tel Aviv.
In Israel, the ORA Funky Cat will compete with such newcomers as the MG4 Electric and Volkswagen ID.3, as well as with a couple of models already familiar to us.
In general, we have already reviewed this ‘funky’ model, so we have almost nothing to add. Only details. Outwardly, the 2023 ORA Funky Cat resembles the legendary Volkswagen Beetle. It is a compact hatchback with a raised roof and a decent wheelbase. Therefore, the interior feels roomy. The trunk volume is small, only 228 liters, but with the rear seats folded down, it offers 858 liters.
The list of equipment includes: 10.25-inch digital dashboard and the same size multimedia screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice control, OTA update, remote control application, wireless charging, USB connectors, electric handbrake, power front seats, heating, ventilation and massage functions, separate climate control, heated steering wheel, power tailgate, face recognition to activate the driver’s personal profile, 360-degree camera, etc. The GT and PRO+ versions additionally offer: automatic parking system, seat position memory, panoramic roof. The most expensive version ORA Funky Cat PRO GT 400 will cost 184,900 shekels (starting price - 174,900 shekels).
Electronic assistants include autonomous braking, lane departure warning system, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic monitoring with autonomous braking, traffic jam assist, active maneuver assist, and more. The model has received a high score in the European NCAP crash tests: 92% for adult protection, 83% for child protection and 93% for safety equipment.
In Israel, the 2023 ORA Funky Cat comes in two versions:
- The PRO 300 is equipped with a 48kWh LFP (longer life) battery, offering a driving range of 310 km
- The PRO 400 is equipped with a 63kWh NMC (High Energy Density) battery, offering a driving range of 420 km
The electric hatchback is equipped with one electric motor on the front axle with a capacity of 170 hp. It takes the car 8.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, while the maximum speed is 160 km/h. There is a ‘one-pedal’ driving mode, in which the system completely stops the car without touching the brake pedal. There is an 11 kW home charger that provides a full charge in 5.5-6.5 hours. It will take you 38-46 minutes to recharge the battery from 20% to 80% using a DC fast charger up to 80 kW.
What has been promised?
The manufacturer promises a full package of services and comprehensive maintenance. By the end of 2023, they promise to open 30 service centers. The new ORA Funky Cat has a service schedule of 30,000 km or 2 years. The buyer will be offered a 5-year warranty (unlimited mileage) and an 8-year battery warranty (up to 160,000 km). The 5-year service package includes a replacement vehicle, 24/7 service center, charge recovery, vehicle maintenance transportation and more.
