New Dodge Durango unites with Jeep Wagoneer
The latest news about one of Durango most successful models sounds encouraging. The Durango may not only survive, but become bigger and more powerful, thanks to the full-size body-on-frame architecture borrowed from the giant Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Thus, the fourth generation Durango will compete with the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition and other ‘big guys’. Mopar Insiders claims the new Dodge will be unveiled in late 2023 and hit the market in early 2024.
In turn, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was previously twinned with the Durango, switched to the Stellantis Giorgio platform. The latest Grand Cherokee offers a 7-seater version, dubbed the Grand Cherokee L, which is why it was decided to abandon the Durango. But that would be a real blow to Dodge, which has not released new independent models for a long time.
Moreover, this year the Durango is showing sales growth, which is another reason to keep it in the model range. Not to mention the fact that the new Dodge Durango, considering constant upgrades, retains a modern design, fully complies with consumer requirements and current safety regulations and is one of the most powerful three-row vehicles on the market. It only remains to add that neither the Dodge Durango nor the Jeep Wagoneer are officially sold in Israel, but we have the Jeep Cherokee.
Israeli buyers can purchase the new 5th generation Jeep Cherokee, restyled at the end of 2017. The SUV can be equipped with one of two gasoline engines. Thus, the front-wheel drive models can be equipped with a 2.4-liter FWD engine with 177 hp that is capable of accelerating to 196 km/h and has an average fuel consumption of 9.1 liters per 100 km, but it consumes even less when driving on the highway (6.9 liters). The all-wheel drive models can be equipped with a 2-liter turbocharged AWD engine with 272 hp that offers a maximum speed of 206 km/h and consumes an average of 8.8 liters per 100 km. Both engines are coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
