Ferrari F8 is a sports car of Italian manufacture Ferrari, part of the Italian-American concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. It has been produced since 2019 in coupe and roadster bodies. In 2020, the first generation of this powerful hypercar was available on the Israeli market.

Once again, the most powerful and fastest V8-powered sports coupe in Ferrari history is the new Ferrari F8 Tributo. A successor of 488 GTB and the more recent Pista, new sports car features 10% improved aerodynamic efficiency, reduced weight through the use of CFRP and other ultralight materials, and increased performance.

The ultra-powerful F8 Tributo sports car, combining Ferrari’s rich motorsport experience with striking modern design, opens up new possibilities for dynamic driving and off-track racing excitement.

First generation

Produced from 2019 to present (data for 2020). New Ferrari F8, first shown at the Geneva Motor Show, replaces the 488 Pista. The car received a unique interior, a full list of advanced electronic assistants, and a design that has absorbed all the family traits of the Italian brand. At the heart of F8 is a space frame with two fully independent multi-link suspensions, coil springs, and adaptive double-acting dampers. CFRP and other ultra-light materials are not used as extensively in Tributo as in Pista coupe. Therefore, the dry weight of the F8 Coupe is higher. Although when compared with the outgoing Ferrari 488 GTB coupe, the new sports car has become lighter by 40 kg.

Motors and dynamics

3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine (it won the title of ‘Best Engine of the Year’ three times) ‘migrated’ to the Tributo without changes and develops the same 720 hp and 770 Nm. The 7-speed dual-clutch automatic remained the same. There is rear-wheel drive via an electronically controlled differential. The new Ferrari F8 Tributo can accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds versus 3 seconds with the previous coupe and 2.85 seconds for the Pista version. Acceleration to 200 km/h takes 7.8 seconds, while 488 GTB does it in 8.3 seconds and Pista in 7.6 seconds. The top speed is over 340 km/h.

Exterior

A key feature of the Ferrari F8 Tributo is a new design and a 10% increase in aerodynamic efficiency. The front air intake is larger than before, and new LED headlights are more compact, which made it possible to place additional air ducts above them for cooling the brakes, which also became larger. The transparent engine compartment lid now has ‘gills’ for more efficient heat dissipation. Behind there are four circular tail lights instead of two, plus a modified spoiler shape.

Interior and equipment

All interior elements are new, but the basic layout of the front panel is the same. And the main innovation is the 7-inch touch screen of the media system in front of the passenger. New Ferrari F8 features round, aviation-style air vents, a center dash with a new instrument cluster and HMI, seat tunnel switches, a truncated multifunction steering wheel, and stunning sports seats with advanced lateral support.

The new coupe inherited from the Pista version a set of electronic add-ons. This is the SSC (Side Slip Control) sliding assistant in version 6.1 instead of 6.0 in Pista model, as well as the FDE (Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer) system with Plus attachment, which individually adjusts the pressure in the brakes based on instantaneous movement parameters and allows more precisely dose the deceleration before the bend attack.

Ferrari F8 Roadster

The new roadster’s hard convertible top splits into two sections and opens and retracts in 14 seconds at speeds up to 45 km/h. The V8 engine is 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit and produces the same 720 hp on the roadster and 770 Nm. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes the same 2.9 seconds. Acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h lasts 0.4 longer – 8.2 seconds. The top speed of the coupe and roadster is the same – 340 km/h.

The rear spoiler is no longer locked between the lights. The bumper and exhaust moved from the Tributo without modification. Length is 4611 mm, width is 1979 mm, height is 1206 mm, and wheelbase of 2650 mm. The Interior of F8 Tributo coupe had red accents, while the roadster had yellow accents. There is also a new 7-inch front passenger display.

Perhaps the new F8 Spider roadster turned out to be not as extreme as 488 Pista Spider (with the same power unit it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/ in 2.85 seconds). The manufacturer hints at the release of a more productive version with light options and a retuned chassis.
