The Ferrari Monza SP is a small-scale S-class sports car in the Speedster body of the Italian brand Ferrari, which is the part of the Italian-American Fiat Chrysler Automobiles concern. It has been produced since 2019 in 1-seater and 2-seater versions. The 1-seater Monza SP1 has only a driver’s seat, the 2-seater Monza SP2 is equipped with an additional passenger seat. You could buy the first generation of this unique sports car in Israel in 2020.

The Speedster Ferrari Monza SP opens a new line of exclusive models with a prancing stallion. The special edition supercar is equipped with the most advanced sports car technology and draws inspiration from the 50s. The legendary Ferrari Racing Barchetta, the 1948 Ferrari 166 MM, the 750 Monza, and the 860 Monza from the 1950s.

The Ferrari Monza SP is the perfect blend of the grace of the past with a modern approach to luxury supercars. The supercar is aimed at a specialized group of customers and collectors. Its future owners are offered a specially designed set of clothing from the brands Loro Piana and Berluti. There are racing overalls, jerseys, helmets, gloves, scarf, and shoes, which are designed to provide maximum comfort and freedom of movement. It is planned to make 499 copies of the Ferrari Monza in two years. Its price will be approximately 1.6 million euros.

First generation

The car is based on the Ferrari 812 Superfast coupe. The first Monza SP received a completely original carbon fiber body in the style of racing cars from the fifties. Small doors open sideways and upwards, and the roof and windshield of the car are completely absent. The original body without a roof and windshield did not bring much weight savings, which indirectly indicates measures to increase the rigidity of the body.

Exterior and interior

The body of the Ferrari Monza JV is made of carbon fiber, which is also used in interior decoration. The instrument cluster and ventilation vents inside are retained from the 812th model. The Monza SP designers used the principle of minimalism. The exterior of the car has clean lines with very few cuts and curves. The driver should feel like a monolith surrounding the cockpit. The hood is made as one piece along with the fenders.

Since there is no windshield, the engineers installed a deflector above the dashboard. It deflects the air flow upward around the driver’s head. The passenger in a two-seater configuration has a small glass. The door opening scheme is rare for speedsters. They open up.

Motors and powers

Under the hood of the car is a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 gasoline engine, the power of which has been increased from 800 to 810 hp. There are 7-speed automated manual transmission and back-wheel drive. The sports car accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, and acceleration to 200 km/h in 7.9 seconds. The maximum speed is declared as ‘over 300’ (for comparison, the 812 Superfast has 340 km / h).

But numbers are not the main thing. The idea of the creators is to convey the sensations of a Formula 1 pilot to an ordinary driver. The dynamics here are worse than those of the cars from the Royal Races, but the proximity to the ground, the open cockpit, the heightened reactions of the car maintain the racing image. The version for the European market will receive a permit for public roads, but the American version will be intended only for closed tracks.
