Geely Geometry E. Trendy electric vehicle
The Geely Geometry E is a new all-electric compact SUV from Geometry, a sub-brand of Chinese company Geely, produced since 2022 The model is clearly designed for young people, as it received many interesting and non-standard design solutions, including a ‘Light of Inspiration’ lighting. This fashionable electric vehicle boasts rich equipment and a very affordable price. The cheapest version will cost 86,800 yuan, or about 12,850 dollars. At the moment it is not known whether the model will arrive in Israel. Israelis can buy another electric SUV, the Geometry C, which looks like more like a lifted hatchback and costs more than the new Geometry E.
In the Israeli market the new Geometry C is sold in two versions. The PRO 350 priced from 135,437 shekels is equipped with a 53 kWh battery that offers a range of up to 350km. The PRO 460 priced at 149,437 shekels comes with a 70 kWh battery with a range of up to 460 km. These data are relevant for 2022.
Exterior
Unusual solutions begin with the front of the newcomer, which is designed in the style of ‘Robotface’ (used on models from the young startup Xpeng). The narrow front lighting technology is elegant: the daytime running lights are visually ‘merged’ into a single continuous line that crosses the entire front of the vehicle. The rear lights are in the unusual shape of a boomerang and are complemented by a forked spoiler with a narrow sports brake light in the center. The manufacturer notes that the new Geometry E is the only model in its class to have all-diode light sources as standard. On both sides of the vehicle there are ports for charging the traction battery. Hidden door handles are not powered but are recessed into the doors for added aerodynamic effect. The SUV offers the following dimensions: 4,006 × 1,765 × 1,550 mm. Its wheelbase reaches 2,485 mm.
Interior
The interior is designed in a laconic style: straight lines of the center console, a dual-control display and a minimal set of analog buttons. Even the gearshift lever has been replaced by a rotary selector. The passenger compartment uses quality soft materials and contrasting colors. It offers more than 40 different storage spaces. Despite the minimalism, there are up to two 10.25-inch LCD screens (digital dashboard and central multimedia screen), combined in a single block.
Of particular note is an LED element located in the center of the front panel and flickering in different colors, which is called ‘Light of Inspiration’. It can even mimic the effect of breathing. In addition to some interactive functions and communication with the voice assistant, the indicator signals the start of the engine, the process of charging the battery, as well as closed or open doors.
The new Geometry E will support level L2 driver assistance functions: there are markings, sign and obstacle monitoring systems, automatic steering and more. Future owners will get a voice assistant and Rhythm Hill stereo speakers.
Powertrains
The 2022/2023 Geometry E fashionable electric SUV will be powered by the Grebo Intelligent Power Technology TZ160XS601 engine. Its maximum power is 82 hp with a torque of 130 Nm. It will be associated with a single-speed gearbox. There will be two versions of lithium-iron-phosphate batteries: a capacity of 33.5 kWh with a range of 320 km and a capacity of 39.4 kWh with a range of 401 km. The maximum speed is limited to 102 km/h.
