Europe is ready to meet the Xpeng P7
Chinese manufacturers are ambitious: they are very interested in entering export markets, and Xpeng with their Xpeng P7 electric sedan is one of them. The model, created in collaboration with Alibaba and Xiaomi, debuted at the 2019 Guangzhou auto show. In 2021, more than 100 thousand cars were sold in China. Such a successful start prompted the manufacturer to aim to conquer Europe. To do this, they created an improved version of the Xpeng P7, specially adapted for Europe. In European markets, the electric car will be sold with a 276 hp engine. The promised driving range reaches 576 km. More technical details will be disclosed later, as well as its cost. First of all, sales will begin in Norway, Sweden, Holland and Denmark.
At the time of introduction, the P7 stood out from the competitors both in its technical characteristics and in its configuration, clearly challenging Tesla and its “people's electric car”, the Tesla Model 3, or even a premium liftback, the Tesla Model S. The size of the new Xpeng P7 is close to the Model S, but in the Chinese market it costs less than the Model 3. Quite a decent competitor? The sedan's electronics was created in collaboration with Alibaba and Xiaomi, acting as investors in XPeng Motors. The company itself calls their electric car a “smart electric coupe”.
Chinese version
The new Xpeng P7 is a fairly large sedan, measuring 4,880 mm long, 1,896 mm wide and 1,450 mm high. The wheelbase is 2,998 mm. In China, the car is offered in a twin-engine version with a motor producing 430 hp and 660 Nm. The all-wheel drive sedan is equipped with an 81 kWh battery. The driving range exceeds 550 km, and it takes the car 4.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. There is a simpler modification, with one motor and rear-wheel drive, but with the same battery, so it can drive more than 650 km without recharging, but it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. The entry-level version with an electric motor producing 266 hp and 390 Nm runs up to 550 km. The equipment includes Xpilot 3.0 and a level 3 autopilot. The system is available for a fee even for the entry-level version.
European version
The European version of the 2023 Xpeng P7 debuted at the eCar Expo 2023, which was held in Stockholm from February 3 to 5. We note right away that the car differs insignificantly. The interior hasn’t changed much either, with a new steering wheel, a wireless smartphone charger, cup holders and an armrest. Moreover, European version will have more technological options, including a power tailgate, as well as a heat pump and heated steering wheel. The options include wireless charging of smartphones, radars, cameras and much more. In Europe, the electric car will be offered with a 276 hp electric motor. The driving range of the modernized Xpeng P7 will be up to 576 km according to the WLTP cycle. Plus, its equipment provides a maximum charging power of 175 kW, which will allow you to charge the battery from 10 to 80% in just 29 minutes.
