Mazda 6 is a mid-size front-wheel drive Japanese D-class car produced by Mazda Corporation from 2002 to the present. In the Japanese market and in China, it is called the Mazda Atenza.

The first Mazda 6 was presented in three variations: sedan, estate and 5-door liftback. In 2020, there was the third generation of the ‘sixth’ Mazda, which managed to undergo restyling twice, with two bodies: a sedan and an estate. In 2020, Israeli buyers could only purchase the Mazda 6 Sedan after the 2017 restyling.

The first generation

The Mazda 6 replaced the Mazda 626 (also called the Mazda Capella) and became the first representative of the new Mazda lineup. Built on the same platform as the Ford Mondeo, the first generation Mazda 6 was very popular. Thus, from its release in 2004 until February 2006, the amount of the Mazda 6 models sold exceeded 1 million units worldwide. The first Mazda 6 was produced in sedan, station wagon and liftback variations. In 2005, the model underwent a restyling, and the first generation was released until September 2008. And in China, the first generation Mazda 6 is still being produced! FAW produces a copy of this car as their Benteng model (also known as Besturn or Hongqi C301). There was also a sports version of the car, which was called the Mazda 6 MPS (or Mazda Speed 6) and was equipped with a 2.3-liter turbocharged MZR petrol engine that produced 260 hp (European version). By the way, this car was also all-wheel drive.

The second generation

The second generation Mazda 6 was released in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and was produced until 2012, while its restyling took place in 2010. The second generation Mazda 6 was based on its own original Mazda 6 GH platform, produced in the sedan, hatchback and estate variations. The body structure of the second generation Mazda 6 became more rigid, the electric power steering was equipped with a new control unit, and the suspension was also upgraded, which had a positive effect on comfort. In 2010, an upgraded version of the Mazda 6 was released, featuring a new radiator grille, front bumper, head and rear optics. The interior of the upgraded Mazda 6 acquired more comfortable front seats and higher quality plastic, the display quality in the dashboard and on-board computer monitor changed.

The third generation

Mazda 6 has created a sensation on the market with its identity and charisma. It was created for people who appreciate dynamics and like to feel how their back is pressed into the back of the seat when they press the gas pedal as far as it can go.

The third generation Mazda 6, presented at the Moscow Motor Show in 2012, has been sold to this day, while it has experienced restyling twice, in 2015 and in 2017. The third generation Mazda 6 was built on the MAZDA SKYACTIV platform and created a sensation on the market with its originality and charisma. The changes were made not only to the exterior of the car, but almost to all of its systems and devices. The third generation Mazda 6 is literally stuffed with new products designed to make life easier for the driver and make the trip comfortable. The 2012 Mazda 6 received the Kodo ‘Soul in Motion’ slogan. The new Mazda 6 was created for people who appreciate dynamics and like to feel how their back is pressed into the back of the seat when they press the gas pedal as far as it can go.

The third generation Mazda 6 has only two body options: an estate and a sedan. At the same time, the exterior of the 2012 Mazda 6 Estate turned out to be more sporty than that of the sedan. After the first restyling of the 3rd generation in 2015, the Mazda 6 could boast a new exterior and interior. After the second restyling at the very end of 2017, the 2018 Mazda 6 has acquired the new front and rear bumpers, LED head and rear optics, redesigned wheel disks, technologies i-Activsense driver assistance, and new interior materials.
