Peugeot 508 Fastback. The second generation. Released since 2018

Peugeot 508 is a mid-size car produced by the French automobile maker, Peugeot, from the end of 2010 to the present. In 2020, Israeli buyers could purchase the 2018 second generation Peugeot 508 5-Door Fastback.

The second generation Peugeot 508, released by the French automobile maker in March 2018, is considered by many experts and car enthusiasts to be the best car of its class. The new front-wheel drive 5-door liftback sedan is elegant and French-inspired. It has a better balance of steering response and traveling comfort, higher safety, better adaptability to bumpy roads, better corrosion resistance, noise insulation and many other nuances that come to light during operation. The new second generation Peugeot 508 has turned out to be truly stylish, fast and bold. A true French lion!

Distinctive features

The 2018/2019 Peugeot 508 is built on the modern EMP2 modular platform from PSA Group. The new 508 boasts absolutely new exterior and interior! It is now a five-door fastback that has a high-tech i-Cockpit interior with premium equipment, plus it is equipped with new highly efficient engines that meet the Euro 6 standard. The car is more compact and lighter. Due to the higher proportion of high-strength steels in the body structure of the new Peugeot 508, coupled with the use of aluminum (used for the manufacture of the hood and front fenders) and thermoplastic (tailgate), the curb weight has been reduced by an average of 70 kg. The 2019/2020 Peugeot 508 liftback demonstrates not only its excellent bearing and balanced proportions, but also an outstanding aerodynamic performance. The drag coefficient is only 0.26.

Modifications

In Israel, the 2020 Peugeot 508 liftback comes with two top-end petrol engine versions. The PREMIUM trim is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine with 180 hp, while the GT trim has a 1.6-liter engine that produces a good 225 hp and can reach a speed of 250 km/h, accelerating the Peugeot to 100 km in 7.3 seconds. Both engines are turbocharged. Both comply with the Euro 6 environmental class. All engines are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission by Aisin.

Trim versions

Two trim versions of the 2020/2021 Peugeot 508, GT and PREMIUM, practically do not differ from each other, except for the power of the engines and a slightly wider choice of options for the GT (for example, the front seat massage function). Both versions are packed with the fancy Peugeot ‘perks’, including a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, multimedia system with a 8 or 10 inch display (Android Auto, Apple Carplay, MirrorLink, 3D navigation, voice recognition, high-speed Internet access), color heads-up display with 6 data display modes, climate control, wireless charging of mobile devices, and a panoramic roof. The Amplify system allows you to switch between two options of the internal atmosphere: Boost (afterburner) and Relax (rest). Each of the modes has its own settings for the interior backlighting.

The new 508 Peugeot has an exceptionally wide list of active safety systems. It includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assistance system, traffic sign recognition (including speed limits), parking assistant, automatic braking when detecting pedestrians and cyclists (works at speeds up to 140 km/h), and driver fatigue control. In addition, you can select different driving modes.
