The Porsche Taycan is an electric car manufactured by Porsche in the sedan body since 2019 and in the estate body since 2021. Both rear and all-wheel drive models can be purchased in Israel. The Porsche Taycan became the first electric model to be produced by the ‘petrol car’ manufacturer.

The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is a 5-door electric estate that was released in March 2021. The car, which is a cross between a liftback and an estate, features such off-road attributes as plastic linings on the wheel arches and sills. For a surcharge, you can order the Off-Road Design package, which includes black trims on the bumper corners.

Background

Unlike the Taycan sedan that has been traveling around the planet for two years, its cargo-passenger brother, the Cross Turismo estate, unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, has recently turned into a production electric car, despite the fact that the estates are more practical and are traditionally in high demand in Europe. The company attributed the delay to the success of the ‘original’ Taycan sedan. The rising demand must be satisfied. Thus, in the first half of 2020 alone, 4,480 sedans were sold. Therefore, a production estate is expected to appear no earlier than summer 2021. In Europe, prices start at €93,600 (€83,500 for the sedan).

Distinctive features

The new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is 11 mm longer than the sedan (4,974 mm), has practically the same width (1,967 mm), but is 28 mm higher (1,409 mm). The entire increase in height falls on the body: the ceiling above the second row of seats has become higher by 36 mm. The air suspension chassis is the same as that of the sedan. The wheelbase is 2,904 mm. The Off-Road Package (optional) with other suspension settings increases the standard ground clearance by 30 mm.

The volume of the rear trunk has been increased to 446 liters or to 1,212 liters with the rear row folded down. The front trunk has been increased to 84 liters. There are roof rails (option) that can support up to 75 kg, and a special bike rack allows you to open the fifth door without removing the bikes, which is very convenient.

Powertrain and modifications

So far, it is known that there will be neither a basic rear-wheel drive version of the 2021/2022 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo estate nor a standard battery with a capacity of 79.2 kWh. All modifications will be four-wheel drive with two electric motors (with the rear one featuring a two-stage gearbox) and a 93.4 kWh Performance Plus battery. In terms of powertrains, the estate is identical to the sedan, except for the presence of the Gravel Mode ‘off-road’ driving mode. The declared drive range is practically the same for all versions: 388-395 km according to the WLTP cycle.

Modifications (as of May 2021):

  • Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is the basic version offering 380 hp in standard mode and the peak 476 hp (with activated launch control system). Acceleration to 100 km occurs in 5.1 seconds.
  • Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo offers the standard 490 hp or the peak 571 hp. Acceleration to 100 km occurs in 4.1 seconds.
  • Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo offers the standard 625 hp and the peak 680 hp. Acceleration to 100 km occurs in 3.3 seconds.
  • Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo is the most powerful version, offering the standard 625 hp or 761 hp in launch control mode. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 2.9 seconds, with the maximum speed being 250 km/h.
