Exclusive Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Roadsters
The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport is an open body roadster version of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 hypercar. The name ‘Grand Sport’ refers to the Bugatti Type 40 and Bugatti Type 43 models. The premiere took place in August 2008 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the USA, while the series production began in 2009. A total of 150 cars were produced, with the price of each starting at 1.4 million euros. The very first Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport was sold at an auction of Gooding & Company for $2.9 million. The custom-built car received a nameplate with the number “1”.
The roadster is distinguished by a removable rigid central part of the rooftop, made of tinted translucent polycarbonate, complemented by a soft fabric ‘awning’, which served as a rooftop in the rain. Due to the changes in aerodynamics, the speed characteristics of the Grand Sport differed from the coupe version: the ‘regular’ Veyron could accelerate to 360 km/h, only up to 130 km/h with a soft top or up to 407 km/h with a hard top. The roadster developed the first 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, 200 km/h in 7.3 seconds and up to 300 km/h in 16.7 seconds.
But we want to tell you not about the ‘typical’ roadster, but about its special versions that comprise unique cars, remembered for their extraordinary exterior (and their fabulous price).
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu. ‘Blue blood’
It was introduced in August 2009 to commemorate the centenary of the company. ‘Sang Bleu’ is translated from French as ‘blue blood’. The car body has a two-tone paint scheme: blue unpainted carbon fiber is complemented by doors and front fenders made of polished aluminum. The interior is painted brown with an orange tint.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Soleil de Nuit. ‘Night sun’
It was made specifically for the Middle East market and was presented in Dubai in December 2009 along with two special versions of the coupe. ‘Soleil de Nuit’ can be translated from French as ‘night sun’. There was one single car within this series. It was a dark blue model with a lot of polished aluminum and a bright orange leather interior. Its price was €1.55 million.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Royal Dark Blue и Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Grey Carbon
They were shown at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Interestingly, the unique cars did not receive any official names. The ‘Royal Dark Blue’ and ‘Gray Carbon’ names were assigned to them by the journalists. The Royal Dark Blue version is painted in dark blue and snow white. The Gray Carbon version is painted in dark gray on the top and finished with the polished aluminum at the bottom. The Royal Dark Blue interior is trimmed with blue leather with white stitching on the steering wheel, seats, center console and gear lever. The Gray Carbon interior is finished with ‘silver’ leather with white stitching. Both cars were sold for 1.75 and 1.65 million euros, respectively.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Matte White
Another car, presented in April 2011 at the Shanghai Motor Show, also did not receive an official name. But cunning journalists immediately dubbed it ‘Matte White’. The car is painted in matt white with blue accents at the bottom of the body. The wheels and the interior are also made in blue.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Bijan Pakzad. ‘Mouth of Truth’
It was named after designer Bijan Pakzad, who worked with Bugatti for a long time on a special series consisting of 10 Grand Sport cars. The car was presented in 2011 after the death of the designer. The sports car was distinguished by a body of bright yellow color, the presence of polished aluminum, as well as the image of ‘Mouth of Truth’ on the hood (for which it received its unofficial nickname). The radiator grille is made in the form of overlapping names ‘Bijan’. The yellow interior of the car comprises the center console for two bottles of branded perfume, and the clock is adorned with diamonds.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport L’Or Blanc. “White gold”
It was introduced in 2011. The navy blue model with white porcelain ornaments is the result of collaboration between Bugatti and the Berlin Royal Porcelain Manufactory. Initially, the porcelain manufacturer had to make only a small figurine of a dancing elephant on the radiator grille (the very elephant that Rembrandt Bugatti installed on the radiator grille of the Bugatti Type 41 Royale). But it wasn’t just one elephant, as porcelain items appeared both outside and inside. The L’Or Blanc costs 1.65 million euros.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Red Edition
The model is primarily distinguished by its red color. It was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011. And the name ‘Red Edition’ was again invented by journalists.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Middle East Versions
Yes, the Middle East is one of Bugatti’s favorite markets. People there love these cars and can afford them. Therefore, three exclusive Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport models named “Middle East Versions” were unveiled at the 2011 Dubai Motor Show.
- The body of the first model combined a yellow top and a black bottom, including black rims. The yellow interior was complemented by black elements: the center console, dashboard, steering wheel, doors. The car cost 1.58 million euros.
- The second model combined a blue top and an aluminum bottom. The interior was painted orange with elements of aluminum, blue carbon fiber and dark blue leather. The car cost 1.74 million euros.
- The body of the third model was made of dark green CFRP and was complemented by doors, fenders and side mirrors in polished aluminum. The interior was painted green and silver. The car cost 1.74 million euros.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Wei Long 2012. ‘Red and White Dragon’
White on the outside and red on the inside ‘Wei Long 2012’, which was introduced at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2012, is dedicated to the Chinese Year of the Dragon. Once again, the Berlin Royal Porcelain Manufactory took an active part in the development process. It produced white porcelain bas-reliefs depicting a dragon on the lids of the fuel tank and storage compartment inside the passenger compartment. The headrests and floor mats are embroidered with a Chinese character for Dragon. The same character can be seen on the rims. The car costs € 1.58 million.
Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Bernar Venet. ‘Embodiment of art’
Bernard Venet is a renowned French conceptual painter, sculptor and innovator who adorned the residence of the French kings with his gigantic steel structures. Presented at the Art Basel Miami Beach (USA) art show in 2012, another unique Veyron was named after Bernard Venet for a reason. The artist participated in decorating the body and interior of the car with various mathematical and scientific formulas, and the ‘rusty’ color referred to his sculptural works.
