Ferrari Roma is a sports two-door coupe of the Italian brand Ferrari, part of the Italian-American Fiat Chrysler Automobiles concern. It has been produced from the end of 2019 in a 2-seater version. You could buy the first generation of this special sports car could be purchased in Israel in 2020.

Driving Ferrari Roma is a real pleasure and aesthetic pleasure that is born from just one look at the car. The sports car, named after the Italian capital, is inspired by the ‘La Dolce Vita’ era of the 1950s and 60s and it is the embodiment of the concept of sporty elegance. Minimalistic style, harmonious proportions, clean lines, and recognizable features of classic cars create an ultra-modern look of the new coupe.

The new Ferrari Roma is a special sports car with outstanding looks, addressed to the most sophisticated customers. It is the ideal choice for those who value timeless design and seek a unique driving experience. It is expected it will cost approximately 190,000 euros.

First generation

It has been produced from the end of 2019 to the present. (data for 2020). The presentation, as expected, took place at a special event in the Italian capital Rome. This is not the first ‘geographical’ name used by Ferrari. California, America, Maranello, and Modena have been released earlier. The new Ferrari Roma is designed to occupy a rather unusual niche of ‘budget’ sports cars, and its direct competitors are the ‘older’ versions of the Mercedes AMG GT and Aston Martin Vanquish.

The stylish Roma two-door coupe is built on the same platform as the Portofino Roadster. However, the closed version turned out to be larger, but at the same time, it was 73 kg lighter (1472 kg for Roma versus 1545 kg for Portofino). This result was achieved due to the absence of a complex folding rigid roof mechanism. The two-door version received a chassis with a rear-engine layout from donor Portofino. Plus, the car has a similar wheelbase equal to 2 670 mm.

Exterior

The silhouette of the car is similar to models from the 60s and 70s, due to the classic platform layout. The body received smooth contours and an almost complete absence of aerodynamic elements. At the front, attention is drawn to an expressive splitter, a retro-style radiator grill with intersecting vertical and horizontal ribs, narrow head optics with ‘floating’ stripes of daytime running lights. On the side, a long bonnet and a heavily sloping windshield are features of the 2020 Ferrari Roma. The profile of the coupe turned out to be as swift and streamlined as possible, which was also facilitated by the hidden door handles. The car looks the most aggressive from the rear, distinguished by muscular fenders with integrated LED lights, as well as a quartet of sports exhaust pipes.

Interior

Inside, the new Ferrari Roma received a high-tech salon with a ‘2+’ landing formula, so there is no full second row here. The center tunnel starts at the very top of the center console and slopes down to the armrest, dividing the front seats. There are many different screens in the car. There is a wide-format dashboard in front of the driver’s eyes, and there is a vertical tablet in the center of the dashboard, which is responsible for controlling the climate and entertainment systems. There is a small display duplicating some of the functions of the main one in front of the passenger (optional). High-quality materials in which leather and Alcantara are effectively combined with glossy black and metallic accents have been used for the interior.

Motors and dynamics

The 2021 Ferrari Roma engine is the iconic V-8 that has won the Engine of the Year award four times. It has two turbochargers, a direct fuel system, and a flat crankshaft for improved throttle response at high revs. The drive is exclusively back-wheel.

The 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine develops 620 hp. and 700 Nm. The engine is complemented by an 8-speed automated manual double-clutch transmission, first debuted on the SF90 Stradale. Ferrari Roma 2020/2021 accelerates from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and acceleration from 0 km/h to 200 km/h is 9.3 seconds after the start. The coupe’s top speed is 340 km/h.

The 2021/2022 Ferrari Roma is one of the most powerful cars in its class. The ideal power-to-weight ratio gives it incredible agility and responsiveness, while the innovative Side Slip Control delivers an unrivaled ride comfort.
