Geely Geometry M6. Successor to the Geometry C
In August 2022, Geometry, an electric sub-brand of Geely, shared the official photo of its future model, the Geely Geometry M6, an electric crossover that is expected to be the successor to the Geely Geometry C, the leader in the ranking of the best-selling electric vehicles in Israel according to the results of 2022. The novelty will be equipped with the Harmony OS operating system from Huawei. Geometry emphasizes that its main advantages are the possibility of video calls, a voice assistant, compatibility with Huawei devices and a large ecosystem of applications. There are still few details about the new Geometry M6, but we have found everything that is known today.
The Geometry sub-brand appeared in Geely’s portfolio in 2019. It was created specifically for electric vehicles, and was originally positioned as high-end (that is, prestigious), but then the concept changed: today it is a relatively affordable brand, mainly targeted at young people.
It is interesting that with the advent of the Geometry M6, Geometry has decided to abandon a tradition of using one letter (A, C or E) in the name of its models. It is also strange that the Geometry M6 almost does not differ from its predecessor, the Geometry C, as it is a restyled version. But at the same time, the model has a new name…
Exterior
So far, Geometry has only shared one photo of the Geely Geometry M6. It shows that the new model is a compact crossover. It looks quite alike to the Geometry C, featuring the same headlights, general body shape and side mirrors. At the same time, the novelty looks sportier, offers a shining plastic finishing, an LED strip in the front of the body and modified bumpers. Since the M6 is still the same Geometry C, albeit modernized, its dimensions should not change much compared to the original: length 4,432 x width 1,833 x height 1,560 mm with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
Interior
The interior of the novelty is quite minimalistic, somewhat reminiscent of the Tesla models: stretched air ducts and a ‘void’ on the central panel. The equipment includes a digital dashboard with a 10.2-inch screen, a projection screen, a media system with a 14.6-inch screen, and wireless phone charging. The climate control unit, central tunnel and door cards have also changed compared to the Geometry C. The wireless charging pad is now an ‘extension’ of the new center armrest. The driving mode selector is located on the steering column lever. In general, most of the keys were removed from the front panel, and the two-spoke steering wheel was replaced with a three-spoke one.
Powertrains
According to the Chinese Ministry of Industry, the new 2023 Geely Geometry M6 will be equipped with an electric motor with 204 hp (150 kW) and two lithium-ion batteries from CATL to choose from: with a capacity of 53 or 70 kWh. According to preliminary data, the driving range of the entry-level version will be 450 km, while the top version will offer 580 km (both indicators are calculated according to the outdated NEDC cycle). The current 2022 Geely Geometry C has similar parameters: its Israeli version is equipped with the same electric motor and two batteries to choose from. The capacity of the first is 53 kWh and it should be enough for 350 km, while the second offers 70 kWh with a driving range of 460 km.
In Israel, the new Geely Geometry C was sold at a price of 143,437 shekels (as of 2022).
