Israeli automotive market. Results of 2022
The Israeli automotive market ended 2022 with a 7.8% drop in new car supply, but the share of electric vehicles exceeded 10% for the first time. We can safely say that electric vehicles and Chinese cars were especially popular in Israel in 2022. According to the Automobile Importers Association, 268,145 new cars were delivered to Israel during 2022, down 7.8% from 2021. The forecast for 2023 is still disappointing: the increase in the interest rate of the Bank of Israel from 0.35% in April 2022 to 3.75% in January 2023 challenges the affordability of a new car for the vast majority of Israelis.
Sales for 2021 amounted to 289,281 new vehicles. You can find more information about the leaders of the Israeli automotive market in 2021 and the reasons why that year was considered successful in our review.

Israeli electric automotive market. Results of 2022
In 2022, 27,671 electric vehicles were delivered to Israel, which is 10.3% more than last year. And this is a significant increase. The Chinese company Geely entered our market with its favorite Geely Geometry C and delivered the largest number of electric vehicles (6,816 units), surpassing even Tesla with its 6,047 models (in 2021, Tesla delivered 6,299 cars to Israel). In 2023, the company intends to release a new electric crossover hatchback Geely Geometry M6, a modernized version of the Geometry C.
Of the 10 most popular brands on the Israeli market, 6 belong to China. For the first time, Geely models topped the list of the most popular electric vehicles in Israel. And this is despite the fact that they went on sale just a couple of months ago, in October 2022. BYD entered the top 3 Israeli market leaders with its new compact electric SUV, the BYD Atto 3. The secret of success is simple: affordable cost, rich equipment, decent driving range and safety. If you look at the entire list (and there are 36 suppliers), you can note more Chinese brands: JAC with its electric SUVs, Hongqi with a huge luxury SUV, the E-HS9, Leapmotor and others. Moreover, in 2022, DongFeng brought its fantastic full-size electric or hybrid SUV, the Voyah Free, albeit in a single copy.
