Mercedes-Benz Vito. 3rd generation, 2020 restyling
The third generation Mercedes-Benz Vito has been produced since 2014. The vehicle comes in rear-wheel drive, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. In 2018, the popular Mercedes-Benz minibuses, commercial and passenger vans have already undergone planned restyling: they received more environmentally friendly engines and new electronic assistants. In 2020, a more serious update took place. The main changes touched the powertrains: a powerful diesel engine and a screen instead of a rear-view mirror appeared. In addition, an electric Mercedes-Benz e Vito Tourer version has been upgraded.
The new Mercedes-Benz e Vito has arrived in Israel in two versions at prices starting from 351,530 shekels. The Tourer passenger minibus with an electric motor with a capacity of 204 hp and a battery with a capacity of 66 kWh allows traveling up to 420 km. The range of the e Vito commercial van with the same battery and a 116 hp electric motor is 310 kilometers. There are regular or longer versions (as of 2022).
Exterior
The restyling did not particularly touch the exterior of the 2020/2021 Mercedes-Benz Vito: the manufacturer slightly changed the pattern of the grille, updated the pattern of the wheels and added several additional shades to the color scheme of the body.
Interior
Only the nuances have changed in the interior: a slightly different shape of the side spoilers, a changed pattern on the fabric of the seats. The vehicle has an advanced multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen, lots of auxiliary and entertainment systems, compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions. The main feature of the updated Vito is a widescreen in the rearview mirror, which transmits videos from the HDR camera in the rear window. A built-in speed limiter has appeared, which does not allow accelerating to more than 120 km/h (or up to 160 km/h), which not only helps to minimize fuel costs, but also reduces the wear. The entry-level trim level includes an automatic emergency call system.
Powertrains
Passenger and commercial versions of the 2020/2021 rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive Mercedes-Benz Vito received a 2.0-liter diesel engine (OM654 series) producing 239 hp and 500 Nm. The engine works with a new 9-speed 9G Tronic automatic transmission. With such a powerful unit, the Vito turns into a high-performance van: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 7.9 seconds, the maximum speed reaches 210 km/h. In addition, it now comes with the ‘intelligent’ Airmatic air suspension, capable of increasing ground clearance by 35 mm at speeds of up to 30 km/h, as well as pressing the vehicle against the road at high speeds one centimeter when driving at more than 100 km/h. The cargo versions retain the old engines, the most powerful of which produces 190 hp. But the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Mercedes-Benz e Vito
In addition to the ‘regular’ Vito, the electric passenger version e Vito Tourer has also been updated. Previously, it was equipped with a battery with a total capacity of 41.4 kWh and an electric motor of 84 kW. The new Mercedes-Benz e Vito 2021/2022 received batteries with a useful capacity of 90 kWh, thanks to which the range in combined cycle reaches 421 km. The total weight of the vehicle is 3.5 tons. The engine of the e Vito comes from the Mercedes-Benz EQV: an electric motor with 204 hp drives the front wheels. Recall that the main difference between the electric Vito and the fashionable EQV is a significantly more modest interior, a different set of options and, of course, the cost.
The Vito Tourer comes standard with an on-board water-cooled 11 kW AC charger. Additionally, it can be charged via the CCS charging connection in the bumper on the front left side, which enables DC charging. It will take 45 minutes to recharge the battery from 10 to 80% at the fast charging station.
